A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

A minor electrical quirk

Hi to all and thanks for all the help with the last electrical problem.
Here is what I have. My "side stand light" and "oil pressure light" seem to act together.

1) With bike running and side stand down, both lights are on.
2) With bike running and side stand up, both are off.

Main concern was if I'd get an indicator for low oil pressure. So, I momentarily grounded the oil pressure switch line with bike running (and side stand up). Result : both lights go on when line is grounded.

So I have a low oil indicator but I'm trying to figure out what happened that they don't work separatly like they used to.

Thanks.

check out all the electrical lines. It sounds like you have a break in the line that is shorting the two sensors.

More likely that the diode between them has a problem. I have only seen the diode in the schematics, have never located it on the bike, so I don't know where to look. :o

.

Thanks.
Yeah, I finally found that diode during my last electrical issue. It is in the headlight bucket. I'm still not sure what it does but I think it has something to do with how the indicator lights come on for testing during the "ON" but not running condition. Then when the engine is started it makes them go off. I'm not positive though.
Thanks.
