A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. open nipple on fuel sending unit

Yikes Yikes Just don't get too worked up over not having it on there. If someone gave me 10 bucks to remove mine for a year, I'd take the money and run.;)

    Fuel line size

Hose Hose I've got a couple of extra sets of carbs and several OEM gas lines and I measured all of them. They were the same and all were 6.5mm or very slightly bigger (stretch factor). All were well under 7mm. The ring on the nipple of the petcock is 9mm so I feel sure either a 6.5mm or a 7mm...

    bit of a pickle here.

Strip search Strip search I think you should remove the idle screw and take a good look at the threads. If it's stripped, you should be able to find a used one pretty easily since the same one was used on so many carbs. If it's not stripped, the the base plate must be. If that's the case...

    Fuel line size

6.5 6.5 The internal diameter is 6.5MM. The OEM hose is the only one I've ever used that didn't require a clamp to keep it from leaking. They come in 600mm lengths (almost 24 inches) so you'll get enough for several uses. The order number is 09354-65113-600. I think you'll find that your...

    bit of a pickle here.

Stripped Stripped It does sound like a stripped idle screw since it runs well with a little bit of idle but you need to unscrew it and take a good look at it. If that's the problem, it's an easy fix. (I hope you're turning the right screw because I've never seen one that was stripped.) By...

    GS1100EX - Air Jet Size?

160 160 I'm almost positive that the OEM size for your bike is 160. I have 3 sets for my bike and they all came with 160's in them. 2 of the 3 appeared to have never been disassembled. I tried to verify that on-line but never found anything that seemed to come from Suzuki. I suppose an "X"...

    Trouble removing Float Assembly

Great!! Great!! I say, most definitely, good for you!! Just be careful with those pins...they will come out. One of the worst mistakes you can make is using a punch that threatens the side of the post; in that respect, you're much better off with a nail. Don't punch it over and over...get it...

    Trouble removing Float Assembly

Free, at last Free, at last HalcyonGT....This has turned into a 6 month project for you but going about it slowly and carefully is definitely a good idea!:) (I just got 4 float pins free on another extra set of carbs and it's always a relief.)

Right Right Now you've got it figured out! (Be sure to add your model year.)

    pilot air screw ?

Year Year Dave, I think you'll find it helpful if you add the model year your bike is to your signature line.:) (I'm guessing that you don't have VM carbs.)

Help him out! Help him out! He may be out trying to get his bike running right.;) Why don't you "explain *in detail* what procedure" he should have used? :)

    Bridgestone BT45 Battlax

Slippery Slippery If you just got them today, be careful for a couple of hundred miles. New tires are often very slippery at first. (I've seen a couple of really bad 'spills' on new tires.)

Bike dies when I roll on the throttle to quick

Air/fuel Air/fuel Check your plugs and adjust your air screws accordingly. What you're describing is most likely an incorrect air/fuel ratio. I feel sure you're getting plenty of gas...but the air ratio has to be right, too; not too much nor too little. The air screw settings seem trite when...

    Replaced my petcock

Bolts Bolts If the bolts didn't get tight, I'd be very concerned (and wonder why) but, the only thing that matters is that it doesn't leak....so, keep your eye on it and maybe you're fine. Hope so!:)

    Fuel/vacuum line size '82 GS1100GL..confused

They are, Cliff, but you are also right that they call it a 'fuel line' in the listing (instead of both). One time, I tried some of the clear, blue stuff and it leaked fuel at both ends. I then used it for my vent tubes....and it's down right pretty!:)

    Fuel/vacuum line size '82 GS1100GL..confused

Thanks! Thanks! Thanks, Clifford.:) It's strange because it isn't listed on the schematics that I looked at. Even more odd, it's pictured as a vent tube and not a fuel line on the one you reference. (#77 is the fuel tee). Through the years, I've found lots of mistakes on those...

    Fuel/vacuum line size '82 GS1100GL..confused

I'm confused, too I'm confused, too I can't figure out where the OEM fuel line part number shows up on any of the carb or tank fiche/schematics. So....where do you find it and what is the order number? Thanks!!!:)
