I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    Carb boots?

Intake boots are the same for the Kat 550M and all the 650 range. I am certain of this as I have both bikes and have replaced the boots on both. Part numbers are on this link - items 19 and 20. Link

    What steering head bearings?

I'm pretty sure that the numbers are 32005 and 32006.

my rear caliper is broke on my GS550T

You shoudn't need a new caliper. The piston is designed to push out of the caliper. I would purchase a new seal. Although you may want to risk the one already fitted if it wasn't leaking before. Remove the caliper from the bike, fully remove the piston, replace the seal, push the piston back in...

    1981 gs-550t

How can it lose spark on 3 when 2 works fine? If this is the correct info then the HT lead or cap leading to 3 is broken. My 550 always started on 3 cylinders and took an age to warm number 4 up. I listened to the experts on this site then I checked and adjusted the valve clearances and cleaned...

    Rear shock spring compressor tool...

I haven't got the original shocks fitted, though they are in my garage. I have fitted Hagons and had the springs powder coated red to match the originals. The original ones would probably have to be dismantled by an engineering firm as they don't come apart easily.

    GS850 Swing Arm Pivot Bearings

I tried to get some for my 650 but found it impossible to locate the correct one with the rubber seal in the UK. (30202RS). I had to fit a normal 30202 and pack with lots of grease. I would be very interested in buying a couple of 30202RS if you know a cheap supplier. (Suzuki want ?28 each!)

    Slow return to idle

I don't think this will cure your problem but I set the mixture screws on my 650 Kat to 1⅝ out.

    81 550L Runs rough,won't idle

I have a GS550 Katana and before I followed the Carb Cleanup Series it always started on 3 cylinders and ran like a bag of spanners up to 3000rpm. On first impressions the carbs appeared clean but once they had been soaked and all the orifices cleaned the bike became a different beast. It now...

    GS650G engine vibration

I have a GS550 and a GS650 Katana and the 650 vibrates between 5000 and 6000 rpm. It's most noticable at about 70mph on british motorways, therefore I avoid them and look for twisty roads! Besides this small problem it runs perfectly and the valves and carbs are set up correctly.

'82 GS650G Pops out of second gear

My brothers Katana 650 does the same. Talking to an expert at a show I was told that it's a common problem as 2nd gear is on the same spline as top gear so gets more use? Whether this is correct or not I don't know. He advised regular oil changes (remember there are 2 drain plugs), check the...

Same Carbs on GS550 and GS650???

Am I right in believing that the CV carb bodies on 1980 - 1983, GS550 and GS650's are the same. I've just stripped both sets and the only difference I can see are that the loose parts i.e. needles, air, main and pilot jets are different. Could I use a 650 carb on the 550 if I move all the...

    Steering head bearing seal

I had no luck in the UK sourcing the sealed swinging arm bearings for my GS650 - though I was after a smaller bearing (30202RS) I have tried countless suppliers and apparently they are not made any more. If anyone knows of a supplier in the US then please tell me for future reference. I ended...

    Importance of Valve Clearance Checks

Thought I would just share a story about my GS650 Katana. I bought it with receipts to show that it had recently had a lot of valve work etc done at a Suzuki dealership. As a matter of course I checked the compression and found that number 2 was 3/4 of what the other 3 cylinders were. I...

Need help with GS550 intake boot orientation

I've just replaced mine and when they are on correctly there should be a L marked on top of the two left ones and a R on top of the two right ones. Though they may be difficult to see if the boots are old or discoloured.
