I've just had the frame on one of my 850s powder coated and I've come to order new bearings for the rebuild. I've already got wheel and stem bearings but I need to get in new bearings for the swingarm pivot.

Normally I'd just whip the old bearing down to the local bearing suppliers and get them matched up but it was quite a while since I stripped this frame down and I've lost the old bearings and races.

The diagrams on Bike bandit show a sealed ball bearing unit but I'm pretty sure the bearing I took out of the swing arm was a tapered bearing because I had to weld round the races to get them out of there.

Anyone got any idea of the sizes I need?

This isn't going to help you much, but when I took the swing arm off of a parts bike 850G I was selling the bearings pretty much just fell out. I still have the swing arm and the bearings. If you want a picture, drop me a PM and I'll send it to you. If you want the old bearings, I can do that, too, but they're old. You might want new ones.

If you find a lower cost quality replacement, let us know. I went looking for a set for my 650g and couldn't find an exact match, the bearing distributor's didn't have the plastic flange that seals out the dirt. I am pretty sure the part is the same from 650 to 850s. I believe OEM were around $35 but that has been awhile.

Like Lynn says (once again thanks Lynn) they were taper roller bearings that I took out of the 850 and the replacment is 30203 which I can pick up for around ?3 ($6) here in the UK from my local bearings supplier.

I tried to get some for my 650 but found it impossible to locate the correct one with the rubber seal in the UK. (30202RS).
I had to fit a normal 30202 and pack with lots of grease.
I would be very interested in buying a couple of 30202RS if you know a cheap supplier. (Suzuki want ?28 each!)

Got to be honest mate, I didn't know that you could get these (tapered roller bearings) as a sealed unit, I always thought that they only came in the one flavour. I've always done what you do when using them and just packed them up with grease and the only reason I've had to replace them now was due to having the thing painted, the bearings were servicable but the races had to come out the hard way hence the new bearing.
