All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Can't get bike out of trailer

Great thread! Glad it was something unrelated to the bike. (I'm just assuming that the screw just fell into the chain. I can't imagine it coming off the bike) Do you have pics?:)

Red light & Unlicensed driver = Broken Bones

http://www.amadirectlink.com/justice/index.asp You have my condolences. That's disturbing that there wasn't anyone (fellow rider?) around to look out for you. Thanks for sharing your story and keep us updated until this is just a memory. It's hard to battle the prejudices non riders have...

newb needs help with 82 GS 650 G

Just a suspicion: Those kinked up wires may have been a short that drained those batteries. I suspect PO wasn't a dyed-in-the-wool motorcycle maintenance guy. If you haven't,get a battery tender(1 amp trickle charger) I got mine at Harbor Freight for under $10. It has an auto shutoff...

    sakura tires

Final update...turned the bike over to my brother, the sakura had a little over 2500 miles on it. Plenty of tread left and still nice and round. While I'm not very aggressive with my riding,I do ride in lots of differant conditions and I had a lot of faith in this tire.I think it's a great value...

    need encouragement about rebuild

My mantra is "Do one thing,do it well,go on to the next thing." My anxieties get to me when I look at the total project. Keeping it one thing at a time, focusing on each step, helps. BTW congratulate yourself on each step \\:D/ RJ

    GS1000G-carb problems still

That's what I'm thinking. Is it a rustfree fuel delivery system? Jets may be clogged with itsy-bitsy,teeny-tiny,you-need-a-magnifying-glass-to-see.pieces of rust. Or your fuel isn't getting to the carbs. A fairly easy way to eliminate gas/fuel kine as a problem is to jerry rig a temporary gas...

    GS1000G-carb problems still

Hang in there. There are some really logical methods to determining the problem. My brotrer has a similar problem with his 75 CB360J. Fortunately for you, you're near Chicago, where there's a number of GS "experts". (I think they're favorite beverage is beer. )

    rusty tank info

Got this from the local VJMC Chapter-What's your thoughts on this? Cleaning your Rusty Tank: The recommendation here is from Silas Clarke, because it was non-labor intensive, (I hate hard work), and it was cheap. I went to the Tractor Supply Company at 79th & L, (I went to the TSC on Irvington...
