As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Car & Keys stolen, now I need to replace my bike's key..

Dave, I have an 82 1100. See if you can find the key code on the tumbler or something. I don't want to post my code here (Marty knows where I live  ) but if it's the same, I'll be glad to have one cut and mail it to you. Al

    Starter clutch help

I just checked my parts CD for the 1100G motor and it shows a washer on both sides of the idler gear. The Suzuki part number is 09160-13003. You may want to see if you can pick these up at a dealer. I can't believe that the 850 and 1100 motors wouldn't be similar.

    Horn Wires?

I would believe that the orange wires are hot (12v) when the ignition is turned on. Two would be for dual horns. The green wire should provide a ground when the horn button is pressed. You could test this with an ohm meter.

    CDMOTO Parts Manual CD

Tried that Chris. The program somehow knows that the date has been changed and it pop's up an error. Also, I tried to uninstall and reinstall with the date set back, but the keycode comes up expired. I've even tried hunting around the registry for entries but no luck. These guys have all the...

    CDMOTO Parts Manual CD

I purchased the parts CD from CDMOTO.COM for the GS1100GLZ/GLD in May of 2002. After a one year period, it no longer worked as the license had expired. Numerous emails to the company have not fixed the problem. Back in the first part of May, I did get one response from them saying that they'd...

    Tach gasket/seal on engine block

Mine was doing the same thing. There are two o-rings you'll need. One is typical looking and the other has a flat face to it. Right from the dealer they weren't more than 6-8 dollars. No more leaks.

    GS650L, test your knowledge :)

Both my original 1100L and current 1100L were very cold blooded. Like yours, once it warmed up it was ok. With my current bike, I took it to a mechanic for carb syncing. Along with the sync job, he drilled out the plugs that seal up what I believe were the pilot screws. What he did was to richen...

    Another Oil Question

Hate to bore you all but... I was talking with a buddy last night who has an 80 Yamaha 1100 and we were discussing our plans for spring maintenance. When we were on the topic of oil changes, he said that he may change the clutch plates because they were slipping a little. he also said that he's...

    shipping a bike?

I can't comment on the shipping part but when I bought my bike from a guy out of state, I sent him all the forms that our local DMV requires for registration, ie the registration form and the NYS sales tax form. He signed what he had to and also signed the title over. I had absolutely no problem...

    Sig gen weirdness on 1100GL

Let me know if you need any wiring information on your bike. I have the factory shop manual for the 82 1100L. I'd be glad to pass on any information that you might need. I also have the parts CD if you need to look up any part numbers.

    Non-motorcycle engine question

Let me throw in my two cents on this. I'm taking neither side. Sure the shop wants to use their own bearings to get the profit margin on parts. But using a past experience of my own, I believe that if the shop has to warranty their work, they want to use a part (bearing) that they know is at...

    Oil Changes

When you change the filter, spend the extra couple of bucks and get a new o-ring for the filter cover. As far as the rear end, use a 90W Hypoid gear oil.

    Side cover interchangeability

Nick, Thanks. I'm fairly clear on the model and year designations. What threw me is that the model information page on this site shows an 850G, and 850GL and an 850L for years 79(N) through 84(E). Take a look at it. Why do they list it like that??

    Side cover interchangeability

Thanks Nick. I don't want this thread to stray too far (like they usually do) but didn't they make 850 chains? I looked at the model chart and there was a listing for an 850L not GL. Is this a mistake? It also shows an 1100L for 1980 which I believe was a chain drive. I'm confused.

    Side cover interchangeability

I checked the part numbers for the 82-83 1100L and they're the same. 47111-45310 for the RH and 47211-45310 for the left. I have to belive that these would be the same for the 850L as cosmetically, they're the same bike. I don't think the 80-81 would fit as they are more triangular shaped...

Don't have to balance rear wheel for shafty???

I just looked at my 1100 shafty and there are wheel weights on it. Somethings fishy. Maybe their balancer is broken.
