A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

gas tank size on 80 gs850gl

Well, if it's similar to the 82 850GL, I show in the manual that the tank holds 4.5 US gallons and the reserve is 4.76 US quarts.

    Cherokee fuse panel

I just got back from the library. No luck there. It's funny, in the owners manual, it states that you should look at the inside of the fuse panel cover for fuse locations. Then, inside the cover, it says to refer to your owners manual for fuse location. 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O Ryan, thanks for the...

    Cherokee fuse panel

It's technical but not motorcycle related. I'm trying to find someone with a diagram of the fuse locations on a 2000 Cherokee Sport. There's no description of which fuse is what on the panel cover, the owners manual or even in my Haynes manual. Before I go begging at the dealer, I thought I'd...

82 GS650E oil filter cover stud or nut is stripped

Yeah Earl, you're probably right, RED loctite may be a bit much. I tend to use the red on the snowmobile stuff, but there's a lot more vibration going on there. But, I'd still put some BLUE on the case side of the stud.

82 GS650E oil filter cover stud or nut is stripped

Don't know if the stud or acorn nut is stripped. I'd try using the vise grips to crimp the nut on the stud to try to get it to bite and back out. Or, it may crimp on tight enough to back the stud out also. Remember to use a washer under the acorn nut. Maybe if there wasn't one there, the nut...

    Battery Acid

I belive that you only have to top the battery off with water, preferably distilled. I don't think that adding any more acid will help the battery. If you lost the charge that fast, you probably have a bad battery or it isn't charging.

    Winterizing

I've used StaBil stabilizer in my motorcycle, boat, lawn mowers, snowmobiles and outboard motors. Have not had a single bit of trouble in the spring or fall starting things up. No gummy carbs or tanks. With the bike, when I think that the riding year is coming to an end, I put stabilizer in the...

Dennis Kirk. If we're talking air filter. UNI has a stock replacement filter p/n 30-3080 13.99 I don't see one listed for K&N.

    Stupid question about turn signals

Depends on the type of bulb. My 82 1100 has running lights in front and just signals in back. Take the lens off. If there's two filaments, then it should have running lights.

    Arrrg!! Oil filter case bolts.

I believe the reason they use the studs is to line up the filter cover so it goes straight on. Then you can hold it in place and spin on the acorn nuts. The bike that I bought had two missing and the guy used metric bolts. I took them out and used the studs. I put some Loctite red on the engine...

    Arrrg!! Oil filter case bolts.

I would believe it's the same setup as my 1100. Three studs with the acorn nuts. I had to replace one of mine and the dealer had them for a couple of bucks. Always nice to get the right part the first time. The part numbers I have are 01421-06208 stud (6x20mm) and 08313-1106 nut. You should be...

    What Can does it open???

The hard one is that long flat handle with a sort of crescent shape with a notch on the end I would venture to guess that this is the wrench that you use to adjust the rear spring preload.

    factory manual 82' gs1100gl (2 valve

Opps. What threw me was he listed it for the 1100L and of course the 82 1100L is a shaft. But he lists a 1100LT but the T is an 80 model. It may be a good idea to email the seller.
