A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Carb sync tool STL area

That is why the details of these home made ones say to put restrictors in. Most folks use welding tips on minimal diameter in the lines. This also provides reading dampening. Before I met you guys (GSREsources) I bought a Motion Pro blue liquid synch off Amazon for $40 shipped. Was worried...

How to shop for a motorcycle battery

    1) if you're not sure if you'll keep the bike get the cheapest ~$35 at Walmart. Tend to last about 2 years (outliers on longevity in either direction exist) 2) if you think you'll keep the bike (and not sure of charging system which is typically bad) consider a lifetime warranty battery ~$80...

    Battery Preservation !

After going through a battery every couple years, I got me a lifetime warranty battery for about $80. Any time I need a new one, just bring it in for a swap. http://www.cyclegear.com/CycleGear/Parts/Batteries/brand/MEGABOOST/Batteries/p/36686_47076 (I also fixed the charging system with a...

    Installing Compufire

Wanted to but no good place on my 1981 GS750L so I just ran to batt neg since the engine ground goes there. Really better to put it on the frame and then frame to battery. Rear master brake cylinder bolt would be an option. Small screwdriver down the back opening (on the flat side of the...

here are some pics (scroll) I've taken to crate my own install post http://s1365.photobucket.com/user/andrewvanis/media/IMAG0389_zpse878e901.jpg.html I used the supplied fuse holder as the connection to the OEM red wire (here it is before installation into the fuse holder)

    Installing Compufire

1 - read this - http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/showthread.php?p=1910714#post1910714 2 - IMHO, no need to size up the OEM wiring even though it look tiny compared to Compufite wiring 3 -anywhere it will fit. Most like will need to drill at least one hole.

Getting ready for synchronizing the carbs

not quite... This explanation uses the term fluid but is also relevant for gas just the pressure differences are much less in gas due to its density - just think of the fluid as a gas that is heavier than the surrounding atmospheric gas (so it actually stays in the container) What one is...

Getting ready for synchronizing the carbs

Below is my alternate/temporary tank setup. The coolant reservoir was ~$9 at the auto parts store. I got the one with the metal frame. Has 5/16 outlets and comes with vinyl tubing and clamps that will work as fuel line for carb synch (for longer use, use real fuel hose). The 5/16 shut-off if...

Painting gas tank with Epoxy (appliance) paint ? some questions Questions at the end since y?all tend to like the story first. Since I am more after function and don?t have a fancy paint gun, I?m thinking of using Rustoleum Appliance Epoxy paint in a rattle can. I use it frequently on other...

Fuel in crankcase ? how much is too much?

Fuel in crankcase ? how much is too much?

This sounds reasonable :) Already did. (This was not a "Help me, my petcock is leaking" post.) Adding the manual shut-off is for the inevitable failing OEM automatic fuel stop tech. Extra insurance you can say. With that standard, you’d be changing every ride since it is POSSIBLE that...
