A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    Fork tube tops removal?

MY GS1000 has the air ride fork tops, that are unobtainable and I have been scared of trying to put a spanner to them as they have been in the fork tubes for 37 years. Any tricks on how to get them out without breaking them? There is no nut top like on the GS750 to put a socket on just the air...

    Re-building a GS1000 motor.

Its been a few years since I had a 'small' oil leak from the cam chain tunnel on the GS and put her off the road. (2011) With work, family, life, lack of funds she has been lurking in the back of the garage while I used another bike to ride around on. Well, its finally happening. I'm going to...

    Shims

Might sound a daft question but where can you find shims for a GS1000 nowadays. My local Suzuki Dealer no longer has a stock of them. I'm guessing I'm going to have to look on Ebay and places like that. Any other suggestions.

    Popping a head off GS1000

She's only done 40,000 miles from new. NO smoke, starts first time in the button and runs like a dream even with the oil leaks. But as she's my bit of fun bike the cost of what you guy's are suggesting this will get rolled back into the back of the garage and be left till another time in the...

    Popping a head off GS1000

I did buy from the USA 10 years ago as it was cheaper but few companies now ship to the UK especially the Suzuki dealers. So I dont have any options on doing that now.

    Popping a head off GS1000

In just doing a head gasket only it's a lot cheaper than the whole lot. Here in the UK you are looking at a little over ?1000 just for the rings alone which is more than the bikes worth.

Any 1980 GS400S owners out there?

It was called a GS(X)400E in the UK and was similar to the GS(X)450E and the GS(X)250E that we had here. As to parts interchange I've never worked on one to say. Sorry

    Popping a head off GS1000

A little while ago my cylinder head started leaking through the cam chain tunnel and through the head gasket on No1 piston side where the 'O' ring is situated. Usual things for these to go and I used to swap them out in the 1980's in an hour or so. Now, nearly 35 years later I have to do it...

    GS1000E front fork issue

Cheers for the suggestions and advice. I've managed to source two new tube caps, two new Allen bolts now so I have all the parts to do a full refurb on the forks. I just hope that it will all come apart without too much of an issue.

    Old and New

HI all. Suzuki mad here, once again. Used to be on the old forum, joined back in about 2005 when I bought my 1983 GSX1100ESD and that was followed by my beloved 1980 GS1000ET. I spent 6 months on the GSX with a full nut and bolt restore of her and that was with help from here. The GS1000ET was...

New rider. GS550E Owner - UK

Suzuki changed the style in the early 80's to the slopey tail sections and different side panels like the ones sold in the USA. My 1980 was completely different to the one you have.

HI and welcome. Not so sure about your choice of football team but then we aren't all perfect. Nice 550 though. Will be a bit heavier than your 125 you have been riding. Enjoy.

    Fork ID Help Needed

Looking at the caps at the top of the forks you have one from a GS750 (square top) and 2 from a air suspension fork model. The large nearest one could be a GS1000 but the other I cant help with.

    GS1000E rear calliper piston issues.

Just an update on the stuck piston. I gave it a spray in brake cleaner last night and left it till this evening. Rebuilt the calliper and jammed the free moving piston and applied air to the banjo fitting. Low and behold the piston came out. Slowly at first but it came out. Sadly the the...
