A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I Don't Know What The Story Is . But It's Got To Be A Good One .

What launched him would not have been his braking. It was his inertia. He essentially kept flying through the air after his motorcycle had been rudely stripped from beneath him. I think his survivability more depended upon where on the car the bike made impact. If it is at the hood area...

I Don't Know What The Story Is . But It's Got To Be A Good One .

Yeah, it makes sense now. The rider flew over the top of the car and it was the bike that did the somersault. A picture from a different angle shows the impact was not on the front but on the side of the car--very front of fender or maybe the tire. I am still hazy on the forces that would...

I Don't Know What The Story Is . But It's Got To Be A Good One .

It looks to me like the front wheel of the bike had to be off the ground at impact. There is no noticeable damage below the headlight on the car and as Garth mentioned no bent wheel or forks on the bike. But that is the exact opposite of what you would expect. If the rider did have time to...

    GS1000 road test

Thanks for sharing that. I got the impression he liked your GS. :) It confirms just about every impression I have of these bikes and why they are my preferred ride after all of these years (I bought my first GS--an '80 850--in 1979). I still had it in 2017 when when a hurricane took it. That...

I Don't Know What The Story Is . But It's Got To Be A Good One .

Yes, that bike got some serious air. I am wondering at what point in it's arc it parted with the rider. Would love to see a dash cam video of it happening. We might be able to make a more educated guess if we could see the car involved and the location of its damage.

I Don't Know What The Story Is . But It's Got To Be A Good One .

That is one strong bar and mount. The bike is way the end of the lever arm exerting maximum downward pressure, but the bar does not appear at all bent or folded.

    Pic of the week game

I suggest that we could do the person tabulating each week a big favor if we adopted the convention of putting the forum name they are voting for in bold. That would eliminate the need to read through the longer posts and would lessen the chance that a vote might be missed.

The oil shock is about to hit America

An informed and well presented opinion. It is borderline Vortex but I think its value to members broadly is worth keeping it here for now. Its predictions are near term so we will know in two weeks or so how accurate he is. I like that he states he could be wrong while providing the facts and...

Old timers trick for stuck bolts

Hard to believe that melted crayon would be superior to penetrating oil in this application. I am curious to know why from the physics/mechanical standpoint.

    March Madness!

I of course hated to see Florida lose but Iowa has shown that their victory over them wasn't a fluke. It will be interesting to see if they can keep it up against Illinois. Some great down to the wire games so far and some great matchups ahead. Highly unlikely but potential remains for an all...

Thoughts about the website in general

Obviously the difference. I am little curious why making a making a comment on an individual post would only be at the highest tech level. I would more expect that to be in the moderator function which we discovered is actually weaker in the current version than in previous ones. But I bow to...
