A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Thanks guys, was hoping that would be the answer.

    Just reassurance please GSx750E 1982

First, sorry for posting this in the wrong forum, but simple question, and I thought most people would look in here before delving deeper into the maintenance sections. I've removed the carbs to get at the earth connection on top of the engine to clean it up. Just need reassurance that if I...

    Cannot get forks apart

Thanks People Like so many things, its a lot easier when you have the confidence what you are doing is the right thing. Took a bit of brute force, but they are both apart now.

    Cannot get forks apart

Hi Has anyone dismantled forks from a 1984ish 750? I've studied every fische I can lay my hands on, and it seems these forks were only used during 83-84 on some 750s. The attached pic is from a 1984 GSX750 (ESE). The identifying factor is the anti-dive with the square fitting to the lower leg...

I am a little confused about oil level.

Check it cold. Sometimes it takes 24 hours on mine for it to show up at the right level after running. Always does though in the end.

anybody ever use replacment petcocks from z1

I used one of these from Z1 last year. I was laid up for nearly 3 months in the summer and couldn't ride. When I went to start the bike for the first time after that I found the engine was full of gas, and the petcock actually let a very small amount of fuel through even though it was off. It...

    Colortune

    See which NGK spark plugs it takes. The begining letter of the part no. denotes the thread diameter. A = 18mm B = 14mm C = 10mm D and J = 12mm Therefore B8ES is 14mm

    Front brake light switch

Sometimes this switch is too far gone to repair, or even just plain gone  I replaced a banjo on the splitter block on the bottom yoke with a hydraulic switch and it works great.

    Exhaust gasket removal 16 valve

Had a helluva job getting my first one out. Difficult to know how much force to use. See this thread, (with pics) http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/showthread.php?t=136818

    GSX 1100 EF exhaust autopsy

Best not to cut I think. If it were mine I would grind away the metal at the very end of the pipe where it is bent over the end plate. Grind a little bit at a time and keep stopping and cooling the metal with water. If you don't let it get too hot it shouldn't discolour the chrome. If you do...

    what a nice find

Good advice. Diesel will be just as good. It has penertrating properties but will lubricate better than blaster. Dont forget to change the oil when you've got it turning over though.

    Checking oil level on a 1984 GSX750ES

Totaly agree with this, the glass is unreliable. Sometimes it takes DAYS for mine to settle down, other times the oil shows up in an hour or so, but there is never any in the sight glass within 5 minutes of stopping. I know the correct amount of oil is in there, and that she doesn't leak or...

    Frankenbike?

I beleive the starter disconnect switch is in the clutch lever on US models, so you have to pull the clutch lever in to start the bike. I think some European models did not have this, so it is possible Canadian ones did not either. Wiring harnesses often have the wires in them even if the...

    Tire going flat - thoughts?

You could have just been really unlucky, and the fitter did not check the tyre properly for anything sticking through. A thorn projecting 25 thou into the carcass can cause this. Is the rim rusty? A flake of rust could do this, and may even stay in the tyre and get "refitted" with the new tube...

    Zooks Down Under

If you have a google account, that works. Opening a google account is easy and not too intrusive. I never get any spam from them. Just call up google and type "create google account" and pick a link.

hi, new to the forum and in need of some guidance....

Quite possibly the best answer is for you to make up your own loom, or repair the one you,ve got, as a stock loom is still going to need hacking on a custom trike. Also, the bike is probably due for a complete electrical check, cleaning all the connectors everywhere, especialy the grounds. My...

SS Brake lines too sensitive for Hydraulic Brake Switch?

I fitted one bought off ebay made by Goodridge, fitted to the splitter block. I've got standard lines, and it works fine, in that the light comes on when the pads begin to bite. Get a friend to follow you and verify if you need to improve it or not.

Bike wont run and I blame my carbs.. Need some help with a few simple question

From your picture it doesn't look like the carb boot O rings have been replaced. If not, it is likely they will need to be done. Can you get it to run by spraying easystart or carb cleaner into the intakes?

After 28 Years It Started! - Now What?

Clocks in slow mothin Clocks in slow mothin I'd guess the clocks might be gummed up from 28 years of non use. Don't know how the Zook ones are built but on other 1970s clocks I've had apart the cable spins a magnetised disk, and the needle is moved by a corresponding magnetised disk, against a...
