DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Best place to get new brake pipes?

Update.... I've found a great guy in CA who makes up brake lines, but he only has the drawings for making up brake lines for GS1100Gs and not GS1100GLs. His drawings have 2 options for the distance from the master cylinder to the 3-way junction for the G - 36cm for short bars or 58cm for long...

    My starter button fell out!

Hi Steve, There are lots of different types of filament that you can get for 3D printers nowadays with lots of different properties. My 3D printer is fairly basic - it came as a kit with a magazine. I use 2 types of filament - PLA, which I think is plant based and has a comparatively low...

    My starter button fell out!

Solved it! :-D I measured the hole and the button and designed a plastic insert then 3D printed it. Pictures below (NB in the 3rd image I've got the spring upside down.) I used Shoe Goo to glue it in place. Shoe goo is rubber type glue that should resist vibration but not make it impossible...

    My starter button fell out!

Hi everyone, Today my starter button fell out! Thankfully it was just as I used it and not while I was riding - so I have the button and the spring. What I don't have is the thing (whatever that is) that holds everything in place in the handle. I've had a look at the expanded diagrams but...

Cylinder block won't release - any tips?

It gives me great pleasure to announce..............I got the blinking thing off! :-D I tried lots of cycles of heat and plastic hammering and penetrating fluid but that didn't work at first. What made the difference was the 'drilling'. I didn't have a drill bit long enough to fit down the...

Cylinder block won't release - any tips?

Firstly, please accept my apologies as this is not a problem with my GS, but with a Suzuki VL125 that I'm restoring for my daughter. I'm rebuilding the engine and want to replace the piston rings. The rear cylinder block came off without any problem, but the front is stuck fast. Before we got...

A little whine with your ride sir?

The nut that has sheared off seems to be much deeper in the sleeve on this part when compared to Mr Zooks' issue. Thoughts? Will the same repair work? Although the photo of the nut doesn't show it too well, it's probably an inch and a half to 2 inches recessed.

A little whine with your ride sir?

Update time..... Well, I checked the universal joint where the drive shaft attaches to the engine and it's nice and solid. Then it was back wheel off and final drive off. It too me a little while to realise it, but the sleeve that came off at the back of the driveshaft should have been...

A little whine with your ride sir?

Thanks for your inputs so far. I've not yet had the chance to take anything apart, but I did try rotating the back wheel, and it feels different. It rotates more freely and without the little bit of play that it used to have. I'm guessing that the pre-load has gone.... :-(

A little whine with your ride sir?

Ed and Steve, is there any way to diagnose the fault before taking things apart?
