Hello to all, 82 GS1100G Currently running 100-90-19 front Shinko 712 on the bike and in the process of replacing tires. Rear is taken care of (130-90 Shinko) and I just ordered a front from Cycle Gear. Why Cycle gear? Order the tire from them, price is within a buck of everyone else, and...

    GS1000E or GS1100G? Opinions please

It is good to see that these bikes are still being coveted. I'm partial to the 1100G. Had an 850 and now the 82 1100. I'm not dragging anything in corners, but if you want a bike that is as reliable as a stone hammer the 1100G is it. I replaced my splines with no issues. I have an airbox...

Test Rides when Selling a Bike??

I'm enjoying this! My personal experience is most of the bikes I've purchased were non runners and everything I've sold has been running. I could care less about a test ride. Start it and let it warm up rev it and I can tell you what it needs for the most part. I always carry an electrical...

Any recommendations for bluetooth headset speakers for full face helmet

Hello all, I would like your recommendations for a relatively inexpensive bluetooth headset for my helmet. I currently own a Parrot SK400 set that works fairly well but my only real complaint is that the volume is too low inside the helmet. I would like to stay as much under $100.00 as...

    Progrips

I use the 713's on just about everything, Like 9.99 from Cycle Gear and really comfortable either bare handed or with gloves. They do not feel like they move if installed correctly. I also put a set of bar ends on the bars just to give a little bit more surface to the end of the bar and also...

seafoam - does it do what it claims?

Great Stuff! Use it all the time and in everything that runs on gasoline. I have used it in the crankcase after placing a call to the manufacturer because one of their reps wondered about its affect on the bonding agents on the friction material on the clutch plates..(something I never would...

    1978 Gs400X Tire Questions

So I picked up a little GS400X from CL and i'm cleaning/tuning/refurbishing and of course, it needs new rubber. Does anyone have experience with putting a 100-90-18 Shinko 712 on the front and a 110-90-18 on the rear? 90-90-18 on the front now and a 100-90-18 on the rear. I don't want to...

Hey noobs with carb issues, listen up!

I will chime in here just because I haven't in a long time..... I was standing in my driveway with a fellow GSer pondering a 1978 GS400 that I just picked up, (My first GS to bring back to life in a while--a couple years). He and I were laughing about all the mistakes we have made along the...

I went to see the bike over the weekend and again, sorry for no pictures, but it is really pretty. My friend put on an electronic ignition and we tried to start it. Found out he forgot to put the rotor on the dizzy. Tried again and it would pop but not fire. it kept spitting out of the...

1948 Indian Scout,74 CI. Anyone familiar with maintenance?????

So I have a lucky friend whose better half agreed to the purchase of a 48 Indian Chief. The bike has just been freshly rebuilt. He has about 275 miles on the motor after the rebuild. I haven't seen it yet but hope to this week. I will get the particulars of what was done and post them but...

    1994 yamaha virago 250

Hello All, Just picked up a 250 Virago for cheap to play with. Maybe you can help with a problem. Bike is in great shape and starts and runs, but... While test riding, the headlight got hyper white and then burned out. The bike then started to run like crap and I had to rev it up to get it...

    BUB exhausts

Do you have a clamp on the pipe to muffler connection? I am the one who sold those exhausts and there should be a clamp that holds the collector onto the header. Make sense?

    shinko 712 review

i'm on my third set of 712's. 2 on 1100G and one set on the 550 which is sold. 5-6K on the rear, double that on the front. KC has terrible mix of concrete/asphalt roads that are always torn up. Great tires hot, cold wet dry. Never let me down. Highly reccomend, good rubber for our style of...

OK, here's one for ya to ponder....

Ok, after reading all this you need new tires. I use the Shinko's and like them very much. Use whatever you feel comfortable with. I have the same problem you do with my 1100G. I have brand spanking new tires that are professionally balanced, new fork seals and new "real" fork oil. It...

    Adding Seafoam to oil, anyone?

I add to oil on every bike that I buy. I do this because I have no idea what oil has previosly been in the bike and how often it was changed. I spoke to two Sea Foam reps who couldn't answer the "safe for wet clutches" question, one immediatedly called the plant and spoke to "expert". The...

Red dust on my chain...What is it?

Yes new chain with about a 1000 miles on it. It is a 530 o ring and the sprockets are in perfect condition. Bike has 11,000 miles on it. The bike had sat for a long time but the PO that I purchased it from, in trying to bring it back to life, purchased the new chain and sprockets. All the...

Red dust on my chain...What is it?

for the life of me I can't think of where the rust is coming from? I cleaned the bejesus out of the area under the sprocket cover. Not that I couldn't have missed something but oh well. I thought maybe the super grease in the O rings was red and coming out or something. I am too used to...
