rear hub spline
OK. Got the tires replaced with Shinko Tourmasters and pulled the spline (1982 GS1100GL) to see how it was doing. This is a little more than 23k miles. I've gone ahead and ordered a new one for the next tire change, unless you guys think I should wait for the shipment and change it immediately.

a rare outsider and was only built until 1983. Who still has one, it gives her so little.Tags: None

I would use it again. A new tire will get you to about a third more miles than you have. I think if its cleaned and greased it will be fine for another tire to wear out.
On the other hand, you will be replacing it anyway, and suposedly the replacements don't have the wear problem, so there probably isn't a down side to changing it now, except possibly a wait.sigpic Too old, too many bikes, too many cars, too many things

If you use Honda Moly grease it will most likely last til the next tire change.Ed

I agree. Put it back together (with Honda Moly 60 paste) and ride. Have the new spline ready for your next tire change. No sweat.
Thank you for your indulgence,
