    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

10-30 dino motorcycle oil? Is it available?

Every shop I stop in only carries 10-40 or synthetics...

10-30 is what is recommended by MTC for my slider clutch...I've been using 10-40, but wanted to try the "official" weight one time...

Hrmmm Ive only found Rotella in 5w and 15w...maybe im not looking hard enough..

Yup...went to Walmart, as advised and did not find any Rotella in 10w30...

Got a reply email from MTC about their clutch and they did say they still recommend nothing heavier than 30w...although 40w will work, 30w is better...
Either synthetic or dino....(without the friction modifiers)...

So...I guess I'll look for synthetic....
 
I see 10w30 all the time here in NY and in GA at pretty much every auto parts store. I don't look for it but I look over it trying to find the 20w50 all the time. It seems to be common in Castrol/Valvoline/Other Majors and store brands.

I can too, but not the stuff without the friction modifiers, ("Energy Conserving" in the API badge), that work with wet clutches...
 
I'd try the 15W-40 diesel oil. Your engine is designed for 40 weight, not 30 so I'd focus on the engine and not the clutch.

Negative, friend...we are talking about the dragbike....not the street bike.

The clutch is everything when running a slider...

And the bike is defiantly not being used the way it was designed. It never runs for more than 1 or 2 minutes...so it never really needs 40w...

Ahh, gotcha. Maybe you'll have to try a specialty motorcycle oil? I've got a quart of Honda motorcycle 10w30 someone gave me without "Energy Conserving" in the symbol on the back.

Bob, stay AWAY from Royal Purple! We've had nothing but trouble with it! Try the Mobil 1 or Amsoil is great too. Neither of those have EVER given us an issue. Ray.

Oreilly quickly became my favorite auto parts store when they opened one near me in GA. They have a small but consistent motorcycle specific area and even have listings for some bike parts. They had a listing for GS750ES brake pads at least. Also their house brand semi-metalic automotive brake pads have great feel and low dust.

It seems stupid I can't find the stuff I need around here, but I haven't...
There is an O'Reillys within driving distance I'll check out soon...

I haven't really been working hard at this since the Doc canceled my racing season....

No... but I have a over a case left of 75w90 synthetic gear oil, I had gotten from work when they went to 75w140 and obsoleted it. :)
 
I was in a farm supply store, and walked through the automotive area. They carry 10W-30 in lots of brands. Rural King, Tractor Supply, Farm and Fleet. Check them out.
