1000E paint design?.

Need to paint a 1980 1000E. Not interested in replicating the stock paint job, it's actually got an 1100E gas tank anyway. Nothing too fancy, couple colors, maybe a little bit of stripes here and there. Not interested on a race bike looking thing, the Cooley Clone thing doesn't do much for me. Anyone got any ideas for a cool looking 1000E or 1100E to get ideas from?

Maybe similar to this, perhaps with black stripes on a red bike, or maybe red stripes on a black bike:

This with black instead of white:

My problem is I'm a technician, not an artist.

Maybe even this without the fake knee pads and with black where the white is:

Picking colors and designs is not my strong suit.

Who's got some good ides?

I've seen some grey colour bikes that are pretty nice, a dark charcoal. Would have to be a pretty easy colour to spray and it looks nice with the black engines.

My engine isn't black yet, but it will be one day. Something that looks good with either a black or silver engine would be good. I'm actually pretty good at the shooting paint part ot it, that's technical. Masking and striping is fun and easy for me. It's visualizing the design that I suck at.
Appreciate the ideas.

The GS750T had some pretty good paint schemes with both a silver and a black engine.

My roommate in college had a red/black '83 GS750T, and everyone always thought it was a sharp looking bike. I'd park my GS700ES next to it, and everyone oohed and aahed over his bike.

No so much odd. Not looking for the racebike look on this one. Want a classy looking two up road pig look.

Not sure on what you like colour wise but you could do something like the 1000s but yellow instead of white and black instead of the blue/red

unless staying stock the sky is the limit but your the one that has to live with it and be seen on it

I'm kind of partial to red and black. Maybe another color in there. Dark gray or something. Probably not yellow. Not interested in the 1000S look at all.

Ok what about this then BUT do the black red and the red black and the white either gold or silver ?

I'm not that good at this but I quickly use the paint program on the computer and this might give you a rough idea

I did that on the last one, took a lot of time and effort but it worked.

Like I said, I'm not an artist.

Or if you want to go old(ish) school, bottle green with ivory white panels work well together.

Hmmmmm, maybe reverse it.. Like larry did on his killer 400, use black around the edges to make the fender appear smaller.

That's way too complicated for my simple abilities, but red up the middle, silver stripe and black on the ends and sides would make the fender appear small. I like it!

Yeah, reverse it, the idea is just to split the two tone with a tribal design type line, beats a boring straight one.

Again, I'm a technician, not an artist. Cool looking swoopy stuff isn't going to happen. Lines and stripes, even complicated ones I can do.

May be I need to get my daughter to help me lay it out, she's an excellent artist, but it would have teddy bears and puppies and sh:t all over the place.
