A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Planning on pulling the head on my '82 1100e to fix the lightly weeping head gasket. Will be painting the engine black while it's apart.

I figure the best deal will be for a complete kit. Saw this on Z1 http://www.z1enterprises.com/ItemDe...100+GSX1100+(80-82)+Complete+Set&item=MAGK714

Z1 has these valve guide seals http://www.z1enterprises.com/ItemDe...ption=Valve+Stem+Seal+Suzuki&item=KL14-6387-1

Appreciate any recommendations for brand and/or place to buy. Cometic? Vesrah? I think Z1 sells Cometic.

Many thanks.

When I do an engine I look for NOS Suzuki gaskets on eBay.
Only buy the ones with a pic of the part number.

Z1 sells Vesrah in their gasket kits. I just tried putting one in my 1000G and was unimpressed. Replaced them all with OEM and boy what a difference in quality when you have them side by side. The base gaskets must have been twice as think with the OEM and you can't even compare the head gasket, the OEM is in another ball park. OEM is all I will touch again for the o-rings, base, head gaskets. You can go aftermarket for case covers and valve cover gaskets but those important ones I sure won't 'play' around again.

unless cometic changed there VC gaskets....
they suck/multi layer and squeezes apart.
had to replace a couple for free...
oem only on a street bike for me or any work i do for others!

All I know is that I put a lot of time and effort doing a frame up job on my 1100.....I would have been sick if my engine started leaking after the rebuild. Maybe some lesser gaskets would have been fine but I'm glad I used all OEM Suzuki parts from Z1, and Boulevard.
Especially the base, head gasket.....valve seals, piston rings, inner engine o rings ....ya know.
General consensus here has always been OEM for the important areas.
Don't cheap out and regret it.
