A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

1100GK seat ... will it work on a GS1100G?

I'm turning my '83 1100G into a cruiser ... Vetter fairing with lowers, Vetter Hardbags, Slide-mount trunk on a KG rack with backrest. I like the idea of putting the "form fitting" cruiser seat from a GK (if I can find one) on my bike, but are the mounts the same?

Assistance is appreciated, as always!

Thanks JJ, that's what I suspected. Now the question is, should I bother? Do you find a big difference in comfort between the two seats? Ron (Argonsagas) PM'd me that they'd swap, but his "G" seat isn't OEM so he couldn't comment on the comparison.

Thanks Again,

If you can find one, it will fit.

If you can find one, chances are it won't be in good enough shape to be used successfully. Even if the pan is in good shape, the foam loses its bounce. You'll eventually end up sitting on the pan.

So, customize your seat. I did, three years ago, and now I have a custom seat just made for my tush. Diamond Custom Seat in Seville, Florida, did the work. It was expensive, but well worth it. $400 or so. If you're going to make a touring bike out of your G, you may consider such a move. First-class quality and durability.

If you want pics of the seat, I'll e-mail them to you.

If you do find a GK seat you should try it before you buy it (they aren't all that comfortable even if they are in good condition) I was thinking a regular "G" model seat might be better.....

I appreciate the input from everybody, and I would be interested in seeing your seat Nick ... thanks!

As it is I have a good stock seat on the bike now and a ragged seat on the '82 parts bike. I might consider messing around with that seat just to see what I come up with. I'll be doing a fair amount of riding this season so I'll evaluate the comfort on the stock seat and then decide whether I want to shell out any serious bucks on a custom seat.

I guess I'll just sit down and think about it for now

Here are photos of the Diamond Custom Seat on my GK. This seat is now entering its fourth riding season. Very comfortable, capable of carrying my considerable weight for many miles. Good thigh support, hard foam that provides a great deal of support.

What Diamond needs is a seat pan in good condition. You tell them your inseam and weight, and whether single or dual. Turnaround time was 3 weeks in winter 2000-01.
