DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

1150 motor into a 750e/es?

I have a Jap spec Katana (1984) that I have written about variously on the site here but a strange thought just occurred to me - is it possible to swap in a 1150 motor for the 750?

Reason I ask is that Jap cycles are regulated to a max of 77hp, regardless of size. Not mind numbingly slow, but not mind numbingly fast either.

The Kat chassis is virtually identical to the 83 750 and 85 700 frames.

How painful could this potentially be?

alot .

i take it you speak of the 750 es . not the et.
is it a pop up kat or the regular kat with the big square light .

if its the pop up kat forget it ...that motor was a lot shorter length wise than the earlier 750 and therefore the frame cradle was made shorter to suit.....you could however perhaps fit an oilcooled gsxr motor in there as the dimensions are almost exactly the same. the 750 es motor being the precursor to the gsxr motor anyways

if its the regular and in my opinion better kat which had the 750 with the square chrome end caps on the head , then the 1150 will drop straight in the only mods being to the sprocket cover and the bracket under the timing and alt cover(which is surplus to requirement anyways)

What he said-

I am currently finishing an 83 GS750ED myself, stuffing a GSXR1100W into it.
That's not a typo, yes a Water pumper & yes it is crazy fun.

Albeit the Oil Cooled GSXR motors are the preferred due to lack of radiator and such I just dealt with.

Yes, Saffa, its the pop up, not the "proper" Kat, although I have one of those too and it is plenty powerful for me.

Only reason I ask is that I thought the 1150 motor looked very similar to mine.

No real reason to swap em out, just curious.
I saw your thread Busafied and was interested in it but for some reason I don't see any photos....

Thanks for the replies!
