A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

OK, guys,

My ever faithful GS is going to roll over 100,000 miles sometimes early next year (with no internal work done!!). To reward her for her faithful service, she is getting an extensive overhaul. I would like to install an 1166 kit...stock cam profile,(if feasible) and go with HD cam chain, new tensioner and guide, valve springs, new valves, clean up the seats, etc. The bike already had what I suppose amount to a Stage I jet kit (adjustable needles from an 83 Kat1100 from Canada, and 112.5 mains). I live in Charleston Sc, which is only slightly above Sea Level. After market MAC header and Holeshot slip on. I am not a heavy handed rider, and am not looking for max HP/TQ. Well, ok, maybe max TQ! :D

I realize I may have to bump the mains and pilots up a little....anybody think my mid-upper 40's mpg will be a thing of the past if I go the over-sized piston route?

Believe it or not the bigger pistons might improve your gas milege if you keep the air box.
The jetting should not be that much different.

What would be the turn around time for the bore job and a valve job from APE, Jay? Any idea what the shipping to Cali. from SC would be, for the head and the block?? :D That is my only concern with sending it to APE...distance of the shipping both ways, possible damage during transit...she's my baby, and I want to take ALL precautions.

If you are back east, I would recommend you call Carolina Cycle & talk to Kim Barringer. He is a REALLY nice guy & it will save you a BUNCH on shipping. If you were out here I would go with Jay but what you will save in shipping with Carolina Cycle will pay for some of your parts. Ray.
