    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

$16 for one quart of 15W Fork Oil????

Where in the world did you get it at. I just bought some the other day for less than 10 bucks.
 
Did you have to go to Australia or New Zealand to pay that kind of price? :confused:

Hi,

Yep, it ain't cheap. I paid about $4 for a pint of fork oil in my last Z1 order. It's just enough to fill my forks to the proper level. I remember paying about $12 for a quart in a dealership a couple of years ago.

That's about what they charge at Cycle Gear. I needed some a while back and was near one of their stores, so I stopped in (first and last visit). I took it up to the check-out and asked the kid if it was mis-marked. He looked at me like I was from a different planet....

Cliff....at 4 bucks a pint, you only paid half as much as he did.;)
 
It was a local dealer here. I was so shocked that I just paid it. I felt like a zombie. $16 for one quart of fork oil. $20 and do I have a problem with that? I'd just walk away and figure out something else is all. If I could. This economy sucks.
 
$7.00 for a quart of ATF and a quart of straight 30 weight oil..mix the two together and you have a 7.00 half gallon of fork oil.. just syain!!
 
I remember paying $20+ for a quart of trans fluid for the HD Dyna I had. :o

Ah, the price of needing it NOW. My last quart of fork oil was $6, or free when you consider it got me over $75 and earned me free shipping :)
 
The 50/50 ATF and 30 weight isnt a home brew recipe..its specifically stated right in the service manual for my 78 750E. It is Suzukis own recipe, so if it good enough for them its CHEAP enough for me...LOL.

Manual says 10W/30, not 30W, which is much thicker at ambient temperatures.

If you are going to blend your own 'fork oil' using a 50/50 mix of ATF and motor oil, may I suggest using Dexron III ATF and a straight 20Wt oil, that way you should end up with about a 14 weight oil.

the 50/50 blend of ATF and 20Wt will (might) be a bit on the firm side for your tastes, so you may want to bump down to a 75/25 blend of ATF and 20Wt oil, which should end up being somewhere around 11~12Wt.

figure Dexron III ATF @ 7.5'ish and blend your way from there.

I respect Dale's suggestion only it's hard to find straight 20W.
