A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hello everyone, first post! I have been watching and reading GS resources after I stumbled upon it building a kawi a year ago. Long story short, I am stuck on a front wheel issue and seek a guru.. I did not search the forum I actually read every thread and found no info.

I went to remove the single rotor on my mag front wheel and realized I may need a special tool to remove the rotor. I fabricated one up and the slotted nut cap or bearing shild will not buge. I went to try and get at it from the other side and it appears there is a plastic capthat would also not come off. What is the proceedure for removeing the rotor... I thouht I would ask before I destroy the wehhel or myself.

Thanks in advance... pics of my bike to follow soon

The rotors simply unbolt...There are six bolts holding the rotor on. I think you are looking at the speedo drive lugs...If it's a stock mag.

The plastic cap just pries right off.

Welcome to the GSR.

Yeah, what he said.

And...congratulations on having, without question, the OLDEST bike on the forum. Not too many 130-year-old bikes out there. 8-[

All right, BassCliff, time for the 'official' welcome.

.

If it's a mag wheel, it originally had a rotor on both sides. The plastic cover on the other side, only covers the bolt holes for the removed rotor.

First off, TYPO, 1978 not a 1878. Funny,

Thanks, for the help guys. Upon a further look it was just that, the speedo lug. The rotor was spinning, but I swear it looked like it was trapped behing the speedo lug. Still had to beat it off though. I guess after 6 hours in the garage that can happen. Glad I asked before I tore something up.

I be back with pics later....
Thanks again

Hmmm. My 78 1000 has mag with only one rotor as well. I thought that was odd.
