A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I know of the Deep Burgundy Metallic color on the 78 C model..and the balck and white skunk. My question is this. What all colors were the E models originally available in?? I may just make this new one a different OEM color. But then again it may be worth more to keep it the skunk...opinions please.

Seems like the E was available in other places in red ,blue and a metallic blue as well as black.Interesting that they seem to have a C style seat as well.Hmmmm........

The '78/'79 E was only black from Suzuki in North America. Anything else was because a dealer switched bodywork from a standard. I think that's what happened with my 1000N because it's black and that model only came from Suzuki in blue or red. The '80 I believe was available in red, blue and black.

Those aren't US colors, but it gives Chuck the right idea

Chuck,

The E comes only in black/white

The wire wheel bikes came in dark red/red and dark blue/blue

I did say other places got other colours.I like the black with white best. That's why I'm "Skunking" mine.

Well the old girl still has her original break in procedure sticker on the tank..its about half worn away, but its there. So i know it was an originally US released bike. I think i have decided it will remain true to her original color. To do otherwise would be like dyeing the skin of your kid cuz you like blue better...LOL

'78 & '79's GS1000E's were black, and you know what the skunk pattern was, the '79 GS1000e was black with some blue pin stripes on the tank and tail. I know the '80 GS1000E came in a really nice blue and I believe it also came in a metallic red.

Here's a pic of a really nice '80 GS1000E in metallic blue. I had a friend who picked up one of these brand new at year close-out for about 2.5K.
There's allot of changes in the '80 model, seat (not as stepped) slotted disks, the right/left handlebar switching units, calipers,
slotted disks, CV carbs, petcock, 2nd generation turn signal unit. I once read the CV carb models were a little slower in the quarter but don't know if that's true.

Also notice on those european models previously listed the seat "strap"
