If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

I was riding this bike fri and saturday . Fri about 20km to girlfriends then the long way home approx 30 km .saturday morning rode the bike for another 30 km and parked the bike for 15 min . And when I returned and teied to start the bike . I had no power . Well a little power , but not enough to crank the engine over ...
Tried bumb starting the bike and wasnt successful .. pushed bike to buddys place about 10 min walk . Then charged the battery and drove it home ..
When I was riding the bike . It ran pretty good !

Test #1 pos and neg leads just on battery pos and neg ..
Test #2 I turned key on with lights on and counted to 10 then took my reading
Test #3 started bike up left lights on and let the bike idle it was idling at 1200 rpm
Test #4 took reading while holding throttle so revs were at 2500 rpm
Test #5 took reading while holding throttle so rpms were at 5000 rpm
Test #6 turned bike off and took reading

Test is good, all numbers stayed the same?

I didnt do the test again due to the time here .. neibers !!
I was just letting you know exactly what I was doing when I did the each test ...
Will do the test over again tomorrow after work and in the mean time check my local salvage shop here to see if they have a stator and a R/R to replace both my rectifier and regulator with a single unit ... start crunching some $ numbers . I purchased this bike cuzz my gs 650 is making some rare knocks and bangs and has 86 000 km on it ... meanwhile I dropped about $1200 into the bike pryor to the knocking .
Picked this gs 1000 up and it sounded great when I looked at it . Only one owner and 32000 km on it .. and since I got it home noticed the valve cover was leaking , after taking valve cover off . Relized cam holder had 2 broken bolts . Which had to be removed with an ez out . Did the valve shims all to spec and putit all back together . Fabricated a new lid for the air box ,to replace the missing lid .then there was the petcock issue . Which leaked gas into the crankcase , after I spent $70 doing an oil change

Ok seep rate reg a rec might explain why you are not burning a fuse ( I'm just not that familiar with the set up). Definitely replace that and if short for time order the stator also. Else wait till after testing with a new r/r

Just purchased a new R/R for my 650 1 month ago , do you think it would work for the 1000 ? Or no ..

I see a lot of Polaris dealers listed for Ontario. Look it up under the Polaris part number 4012941.

Mississauga is a little to far for me to travel. I figured if you were close to me I could stop over and help. I'm across the river from Petrolia/Sarnia.

Ouch !! Ready honda is the dealer here for polaris . The sh775 r/r isnt to bad its priced at $96.99 plus tax ..
But a oem stator is $285.73 plus tax
Or the guy says he can get a ricks after market stator for $190.00 plus tax ...
However the guy suggested checking the rotor says that if the magnets are gone , doing the stator test could give you a false reading ??

I dont know .. im no electrician !!

Well thanks for the though ... so frustrated with both these bikes at the moment !! Had to bus and subway into work today ... :(

This ready honda place I dont like dealing with . There the parts place for suzuki , honda , polaris etc . And every time I get parts from them they seam to be wrong .. and they always take two weeks . Heck the valve cover gasket for my gs650 they got me the wrong gasket . Then when I relized it they wouldnt even take it back !!!

The other place by me is TO cycle salvage .. and they wont help you figure out which stators will work or which rectifiers will work . He sais you tell me what you are looking for and ill tell you if we have stock ...

Don't guess if your stator or R-R is bad. Measure them. The links are in Posplayr's signature.

Also, get the number from the R/R you put on your 650.

OH boy, a magnet test- just what has posplayr been waiting for!
PM Steve, he can get your stator rewound ( yours is likely a 12 pole stator-not the more common 18 pole on 1980's and up) for under $100.

Or get adventurous and go ebaying or salvage yard digging- of course, if you are in a hurry....
