A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Im trying to give you all the answers to your queations ..
When I get home I will pulla socket from the wall and take a reading. Then wil label wires from the stator A, B & C and try the test over ..
Again thank you
Label the pairs 1...2...3...4...5 as the stators wiring harness has five wires.

Remember?

For example... A has two wires connected up to it. B has two wires connected up to it and C has only one. The two wires coming off A are electrically connected. (treated as a single wire) B....

I appreciate everyones opinion and time here ... you all take your time to assist people like myself , whom you dont even know and thats just awsome !!
When i get home tonite I will do a few tests ...
1 check my multi meter on wall socket just to see what it reads
2 do what was asked of me last nite and do the quick teat over again .. sorry was not able to run that test again last nite , my neiber has a new baby and has asked I not rev the heck out of the bikes after 10 pm
And lastly I will test the stator again , hopefull having better luck and a better reading then what I was getting yesterday ..
Again thx again all

We even help Kanadians from time to time. ;)

(it's a forever running joke!)

YEP, and to see if it's jumping around.

Three... When the meter is in the A.C position lead polarity means zip. Alternating Current goes positive, then negative, then positive, then negative.... W-R-R ;)

Ok just tested plug outlet using both my multimeters . My cheep $20 meter gave me a reading of 118.8 . My good meter gave me a reading of 118.9 .
Taking battery off charger .. will be back soon

It seems complicated, but it's not. If you abandoned a yellow and a white/blue like I said it would be (any combination you start with) example: 1 White/Blue to Green/White, 2 Green/white to Yellow, 3 Yellow to white/Blue.

Thank you for your kind words ... now tell me please ??
Do any of those numbers tell you if the regulator or the rectifier are bad or good ?
Sure id like to replace with something like what you suggested . But if I dont have to replace them now . Id rather not !!
Its a money thing .. you know single dad raising 2 kids

Id like to thank you all for your support , suggestions , knowledge and most importantly for dealing with a newbie such as myself and not giving up !! Im sure I came close to losing a few of you .. thx thank you and thanx again from your neibering KANADIAN friend ... lol

I doubt you lost any of us.

Still looking for any numbers off the 650's R/R if possible.

When you came to the GSR, you have entered the intersanctum of cheaptom. So when we say change the R/R and get an SH-775 remember where it is coming from.

If your kids don't have enough to eat then get the bike running and sell it. Sorry for being so blunt, but that is basically it. There is not much choice about fixing it, there is only a choice about whether you can afford that.

You also know that life turns on a dime, so park it until you can afford a new stator and SH-775 and you will be able to do that. In the mean time you have plenty of time to do all the required maintenance. When the money comes it will be a pitzacake. :dancing:

Good used stator can be found as well as a good used reg-rec.

Just sayin'

I found the paper that came with that rectifier im using on my gs650gl
Its fom Ricks motorsport universal R/R for 3 phase permanent systems part #10-502

Now all you need to do is find a stator to fit.

I'll be installing one from a GS1100GK on mine.
