Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I don't feel comfortable re-jetting my carbs myself, that's what scares me.

It's insanely easy. You have to pull the jets out to clean the carbs anyway, so it's not like you're treading in any unknown territory. I'd go up to like an 85 on the main jet and see how it rides. I've ended up with a some extra jets, but I don't mind. I expect to be wrenching on bikes for a long time, so having a bunch of jets seems like a good thing to me.

It does take a little extra time, but I got mine dialed in over a couple of hours. The trade off was well worth it. It looks better to me, I don't have air leaks, it's easier to get the carbs on/off... Can't complain!

Where did you source the jets?

I got mine locally.

Sounds good, taking my carbs tonight to clean them in my ultrasonic cleaner.

Took off a few pieces to clean/sand blast before I paint them.

2003 VW GTI valve cover I did in Cream

And this has been occupying most of my time at work!

So today I also ordered new mirrors, float bowl gaskets, O-Rings from Mr Barr and some intake stainless hardware!

I'm almost ready for spring.

Z1 has the best prices on main jets that I have found, mine were $1.75 ea. opposed to $2.75 ea or $5.99 for 2 which seems to be really common pricing for them.

My Sata in the corner <3

This is what happened tonight.... crappy cell phone pics tonight let them dry overnight, and fit everything tomorrow night after work and the gym.

Saturday I have to meet with my wedding caterer and go " registry " shopping, to bad I can't register for bike crap.

Mr Barrs O-Rings, and my float bowl gaskets should be here today <3

I polished the floatbowls, and the top bowls last night after I painted the tank, sidecovers and seat.

Today I'm going to re-shoot the seat because I got a nasty run on the side. I don't want my friends to bust my balls over the run :-x

Tonight I'll finish ultrasonic cleaning my carbs, assemble them, and maybe call it a night we'll see!

I'm getting excited the weather is getting warmer.

Next up the forks. I'm debating whether to polish them or black them out.

I like that color, it might be completely different but it reminds me of hugger orange almost. The only thing I don't like is the painted cam caps, just me though. I think some polish would set it off, polished engine covers, forks, caps, litter rims, black spokes, barrel, case, etc.

That's exactly why I did them, because if I went straight into polished, I would have always been mad ... why didn't I paint them?? SO I quickly sand blasted them and shot them. I don't really like it though.

But right now I agree with you .I think I'm going to polish them, and all the covers.

I love the orange, I was going to do a burnt orange on my 78 550 but my friend didn't have it in stock. (He is giving me a cost only deal, I didn't want to have him order special for me).

How did you upholster the seat, I have a similar seat that I need to upholster and was thinking of idea's and solutions?

Love the build so far.

Thank you

Got my O-Rings, and started putting my carbs back together.

Now last couple of things, I need.
A good front tire, any recommendations? Front Fork Brace, and a set of decent rotors. The only ones I can find are about 180 bucks on Amazon.

Lots of tire opinions out there. If it were me shopping for tires (I'm a price/performance kind of guy) I'd look at Shinko 230s or Bridgestone Battlax tires. I have Bridgestone Spitfires right now, they seem fine to me. RWL Spitfires could have a nice retro look to them on your bike.

Are your rotors bad or you just want something that looks newer or more modern?

My rear rotor has a noticeable score on it, something that bothers me. The bike has 25k on it.
If you don't mind me asking what size did you go with on your bike?
