A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Maybe less chatting and more wrenching would speed things up?

Why dont you post photos of your bike and the engine work that you have done. We love to have the more experienced bikers show and teach teach us how to do things correctly :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

You kill me Dom!

I appreciate everyones input. And I assure you, I am equally and even more so excited to see the finished product!

It's killing me. I have decided that I will paint the bike for sure (duh) but will definately not do it right away. It may be done before the rally in June or maybe not.

But now, due to comments from other vintage UJM buffs they have me going back and forth now on the color. I originally wanted to just redo the stock paint job. Then I wanted a custom (orange) color, but now I am thinking about even more ideas. Please, by all means, feel free to post your comments and ideas on a paint job. I welcome and WANT all perspectives and opinions.

Pink and black are out though

Dom you have to remember what Gnaht said, "smileys don't grow on tree's" use them frugally

mark all i am going to say about painting the bike is this. if you must go OEM then the only color combo is the black and white AKA the skunk, that is a awsome color combo. Don't paint it any other lame OEM bad 70's colors. if you really have your heart set on a custom orange that is way cool to, the bike is going to look awsome and you still working with the oem color relation just not the exact colors, better colors in my mind. let this bike be a extention of your self not someone else. do wht your heart tells you.

I do have to admit that I like the elegant look of the skunk.
But it's black :)

Dineke's bike is nice but is too light.

Keep um coming :)

Thx for the input Ryan.

I like black. Nothing beats black. Some accents are cool, as long as it's mainly black. 8)

Hoomie,
What ever you think looks best is what you should paint it. Hope you get her together soon Buddy.

If not, I am going to get my bike liscenced and just ride up there and help you till we get yours done!! 8) 8)

You do that Michael and I might have to drive down 8O

I prefer the lighter blacks, sometimes referred to as SILVER. Then too, warm blacks often refered to as RED can be quite pleasant. :-) :-)

Just as long as it's some version of black. :)

Woo-Hoo!!! Gratuitous photo opportunity :D
Here is my suggestion for a "Mid-Black"

Dink

Hey Hoomie, are you done yet :P ? You know that NC ride is coming right up here, and that 550 may have a hard time keeping up.

Oh, and flat black with gloss black lettering. Subtle, but bad a$$

hmmm, lots of votes for black :-k

It's just not going to happen man. But that's what I wanted. Other opinions. If for no other reason just to see how different it is going to be

See Earl and Dink are onto something though, I could work with those shads of black :D

To answer Luke, even if it is done this week I am not sure how confident I will be to take it on a long ride just yet. To answer more directly though I am going back in Tuesday night to finish up what I had to do. Joe should be done with the head by then but I may have set him back a bit by cracking that engine case like a knucklehead. But we should still be on board for this week giving fire to it.

Working to my advantage right now is that Joe now has the whole bike there and needs to get it out of his shop ASAP! He has too much work right now and needs to get it done :D

Next one is all mine man. All mine.

Come on MArk, we got the positive joo joo's behind you.
It will happen.
Like that terrible Kevin Costner "movie" 8O 8O
If you dream it, it will come
We are pulling for you here. 8) 8) 8)

Don't listen to these monkeys.....

ORANGE is the way to go! Its gonna look sweet! 8)

But it will be cooler. Black attacts heat whereas lighter colors reflect it.

That makes it cool 8)
