A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Looks good Russ.:) Me thinks you put the hot rod head on the wrong bike.;)

BTW, what's up with the brake line routing?

Right? It was a better fit though Ed with the 1085 kit and all. Too funny with the rear brake line; I guess the guys doing the exhaaust had run it up like that to get it out of the way. I didn't even notice that :o.

Looking good Russ;

Interested to see how you route that rear brake line as I too have a Metmachex swinger (on my Katana) and have not come up with a good way to secure the line to the swingarm.

I think you and I may be the only ones with this swingarm. Yours looks to be newer than mine with the I section tubing; mine is just rectangular.

Yeah Smokin' the GS1100 swinger I had on there had tabs welded on to secure the brake line but the metmachex does not. Not really sure what to do there.

Hey Russ,

Not sure where you can find them but an anchor can be stuck down on the swingarm using high quality double stick tape as long as the mounting pad size is reasonably large.

scrub, scrub, scrub

scrub, scrub, scrub

So spent most of the day doing a deep cleaning on the bike following the "Clean your Motorcycle" series on Youtube.

A word of advice if you a folow these procedures: WHere eye protection. My eyes are still burning from getting WD40 in them! Afew before and after shots. Still need to go back and do a little more cleaning and to day I will try and polish the covers a bit. Still have the clear coat on them so not expecting much. Here's a few before and after shots. Ikon shocks still haven't made it here btw after 2 weeks....

Still obviously is pretty rough. She really is in need of a full frame off.

So back together now. Really happy with the way the exhaust turned out. Still have a charging problem to figure out.

Going to put a new Duanage RR kit in it tomorrow so should be good to go. Have the new Ikons on it as well now. Handling is much improved and that exhaust sound is lovely.

Russ,
Looks great, job well done. BTW, how are those Flatsides Carbs working out. I would be interested to hear what they came off, what's the jetting etc

Flatslides are great 'Trap. They were actually on my Cooley and will go back on once I get my smoothbores back from Bruce. I had sent him a set I had purchased off a board member but they ended up being buggered (basically to the point of being unuseable) so I picked up another set and they are on their way to him hopefully. Those flats were actually NIB purchased from a local guy I know. Never have cracked them open so I am unsure of jetting. I know they are perfect for the 1085 motor in the cooley.

Speaking of, what's your progress on your motor? Did you ever find the D port head?

Dang Russ that thing is looking fine, is that the the bike I road a year ago? ;)

Great job man!

That is the one Joe. Will be the only GS ridden from now until I can find a replacement tank for the Cooley. I'll have to go with an '80 1000e tank I'm sure.
