A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

A neighbor still has his "78" GS750 he bought new in "78". Yours is "E" model, his is standard. At one time, he let his sit for 4 or 5 yrs. but after cleaning the carbs good, it was back to normal, except appearance. Now his orig. exhaust is kind'f rotted out, he's still using them, but they're not good. Good luck & welcome.

Last time out (Oct) - ridden hard put away wet
After sitting all winter (no tenders, stabilizers)
Inflated the tires and rolled mine out of the garage 2 days ago
Turned petcock to prime, pulled choke up
Turned Key to ON, swung out the kick starter, half an easy kick
Fired right up purring like a kitten !

Hey Notz, please consider coming to the Brown County rally. We missed you last year. 👍

Mag wheels, yes. Slotted discs, no. Original discs were solid. It was a common mod that was done to help braking in wet conditions.

Hi
going well. So far.
changed the oil, fresh gas, cleaned out the mouse nest in the air box, new battery and hit the starter.
Lifted the choke and it started! Damn I love this bike. Rear brake is good - flushed the fluid and i have good peddle. The front brakes are an issue. The master is shot. Rebuild kit? Or replace?

You'll need to disassemble the MC to see if the bore is corroded. If it's good, an OEM rebuild kit is perfect.
If its bad, you can replace it with a newer one
Replace your brake lines as well, since they should have been replaced in 1982. Most opt for steel braided lines

Post up any technical questions in the proper sub forum

Hi it came with the mags, i had the rotors drilled.

Hmm...no luggage rack, windshield, fairing, engine guards, highway bars, crash bars, saddle bags or trunk. My kind of bike!
