A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hello everyone.

here are some pics of the bike when i got it. sorry about the poor quality pictures. the previous owner hardtailed it with a 9.5" metal bar and basically screwed EVERYTHING up but even in this sorry state the beast ran!

...and here is where I'm at now, 2 months later & probably 60% done? there is still lots of electrical junk to do as well as cleaning and painting some of the engine.

Oh boy...another GS right up my alley in the looks department. I'm digging it.

Low and load.

Mate you deserve a medal! You've turned a hideous ugly mauled GS into a very nicely done bobber... well done!

hey, thanks a lot guys. i'm pretty excited with how it's coming out. this is my first build so it is a lot of fun seeing my vision come to fruition.

i can't wait to get beyond electrical stuff & into tuning and polishing up the engine! who knows what kind of gremlins i'll encounter when i get there, haha.

The paint was done by me with auto paint rattle cans and masking tape and then i bought some 2 part clear coat off the internet. the clear is totally worth it and it gave it that really glassy look that it gets when it's professionally done. we'll see how it lasts.

here is the link to the 2 part clear i used: http://www.repaintsupply.com/pd_2_part_2k_aerosol.cfm

Well done, damn fine job on the paint, and that's handy having 2k clear in a can!

here are some updates!

i got my tank badges the other day and i'm pretty pumped, what do you all think?

I did a few things tonight but I think I need to make a to-do list. I get excited about doing certain things and then neglect others, often while I'm in the middle of the "other" things.

I added some foam to my seat design to make a little but stop & I also cut up some memory foam to possibly add tho the top for some added bonus cushion. i'm undecided as to whether or not i'll add the memory foam but I figured i'd try it, I'm really trying to find that delicate balance of function & fashion.

Also, any ideas on what to do about the the space @ the top of my fork gaiters? not entirely sure what to do but my first instinct is to get a couple circular drill bits, one the size of the fork tube and one the size if the gaiter and cut up some thick plastic and and use a zip tie to secure it.

also did a little engine cleaning/polishing. any good suggestions on how to do this without taking the motor out?

hey thanks man! i'm liking your build. good job! it must feel great to actually ride it!

Mate I hear ya' about being distracted... I have a few niggly things around the 450 that I haven't quite gotten back to yet because I've worked on other things just like that...

My suggestion with the fork gaiters is to buy another set, I scored a perfectly sized generic set from my local Suzuki dealer for... umm... can't remember but it was like $20 or $30.

I did all my engine cleaning/polishing/painting with it completely dismantled, so can't help you on in the frame stuff I'm afraid... in fact that's one of the reasons I took it apart

the rears are MDI's. they're not bad, i heard a lot of mixed things about them but they seem alright, we'll see once they get some riding time.
