    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I rebuilt the VM26SS carbs on my bike and forgot to count how many turns out the pilot screws were before I took them apart. Any one know a good starting point to set them at for initial fireup.
 
Fuel or air?

Fuel - 3/4 to 7/8

Air - 1 1/2

This is for stock airbox and mufflers
 
Pretty sure it's fuel. The screws are on the engine side of the carb, underneath, just ahead of the float bowls.
 
Pilot screws are the bottom ones and mine are at 1 out..the air screws are on the throat sides and mine are at 1 3/8 out..Plugs are running just slightly tan like you want. Thats my bike of course,, but this will be pretty close for your as well.

while your statement is correct for the most part chuck vernon BC is at a different ALT than you are and also not as hot so he has more air density
the settings you have are a good starting point but he will wind up differently after doing some plug chops and tuning the carbs properly for where he is

i say this because in vernon the ATL is about 1200 ft ASL here in calgary i'm at 4300 ft ASL and with my bike tuned for here in vernon i run a tiny bit lean but not too much at Sea level i will be on the borderline of being too lean for extended riding i would need to richen up my bike to keep it safe if i spent a long period of time there
so as can seen this is why each bike is different when it comes to tuning it and ALT and temp also play a role

Thats all they are intended for..I am sure he knows he is gonna have to fine tune everyting. Every bike is its own animal. If my neighbor had the same bike, his would be different than mine too...

understood chuck i just wanted the OP to be sure that waht works for you may not work for him but are a good place to start and go from there
most of that was for the OP but i can see where it would look as though it was not sorry for the confusion

I got it..just added a bit.. Its funny that so many factors can effect the adjustments...even on the same bikes in the same environment.

yes very true that is why
as you stated each bike is it's own animal
