A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

So I can't find a match for this busted petcock anywhere online!! It is a Taikyoku or something like that- I will get pics when home. Anyone heard of this brand? Aftermarket? I want to get a replacement online, but fear that the mounting bolts won't line up (tried to match to another GS and they didn't line up.

Thanks!

Call Z1 Enterprises or order one from Boulevard Suzuki.

Hmm. They're getting pricier. $81 at Boulevard.

Take your old petcock off and measure bolt centerline spacing- always possible that someone has changed to a different petcock.

44mm spacing makes your job easier. Easy to find a replacement.

oh good. Looks like they are about $50. Should I avoid leverless?

Leverless petcock spacing is 50mm.

Try searching for "dreaded petcock"
Fortunately, the shaties escaped the "dreaded '80 petcock". :dancing:

I have an '80 850G'K', my son has an '80 1000G, both of them with wonderful petcocks.

Johnson and Wood in North Hollywood had plenty for me to pick from. Now i'm rollin! Love those guys!

True enough, my condolences for your "L". :p

The "G" models escaped them, though. :-\\\

.

No worries. Being my first bike, I didn't know I was supposed to hate it until people told me otherwise. The only thing I really don't like about it is the need to use a screwdriver to prime the carbs.

THE g doesn't have the "dreaded petcock" Its the same as all the 1979 and 1981. I have installed a 1100G type petcock on one of my 1000Gs. The fuel and vacuum line routing gets weird.

I have had to replace a number of the 850/1000G petcocks. Never had trouble finding one, but I haven't bought one in a couple years.

Here is a link to it at Partshark. no problem finding at the usual places.
