    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have read all the posts on mixture screws for adjusting idle/rich/lean conditions.

where are they located on my mikuni cv carbs ? I see 1 adjusting nut (like a thumbscrew) that i think adjusts my idle.

I have searched and have not found what I think I need. trying to get a rough idle and plug fouling (lean condition).

i am adjusting valves today, and while i have the tank off thought I could look at these screw settings.

any info would be much appreciated.

there appears to be metal caps over these. how do I get to the adjustment screws, or do i just not touch them ?

They are pre-set at the factory and are supposed to 'not be messed with', but we all mess with them. In order to get them out without screwing up the screw head underneath is take a sheet metal screw, place it in the tiny hole and put enough turns to get it to hold the cap and then pull it out with a pair of pliers. If that fails use a small drill bit and drill the cap out being VERY CAREFUL that you do not bugger up the threads of the screw below(they are brass and very soft). The screw head under the cap is very close to the cap so check your progress frequently while drilling.

Oh yea, if you are going to remove the screws count the number of turns 'IN' or until they are seated then take them out, that way you will know how to adjust them when you put them back in.

Rather then trying to remove them Id just screw them down and count the turns then back them off to where you want them. Get a screw driver thats an EXACT fit for the mixture screws, the heads bugger up real easy then you cant do anything with them. No matter how much Ive soaked them with penetrating oil theres a 50/50 chance of getting them out without ruining them to change the little o-rings on the bottom. Once they are ruined Ive had no luck at all getting them out. You need a bigger headed screw driver then will fit down the hole so you have to grind the sides down to fit. The ones that do fit have too small of a head on them to work without ruining the screw slot. http://www.cycleorings.com/#BS_Series_O-ring_Kit get o-ring kits here
