A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Saddlemen Double Bucket Seat Kit

Dennis Kirk Part #: 39462
Manufacturer Part #: XS147

Has anyone installed this seat kit on there GS.
It mounts to the stock pan. How's the quality, comfort, etc.
All your feedback is greatly appreciated.

Seat?

Seat?

I need to bump this back to the top. I have the exact same bike, and my seat cover is going away. I need to do something. Is this a good idea? I dumped the "L" bars, eventually ended up with the LTDs. Just right, IMO.

What is the difference between L bars and LTD.
Are the stock bars L bars?

I never understood the issue with the "L" bars till i realized my bike didnt have the stock ones. Even still I am onto Daytona bars and loving them. Pnly issue is I dont think I can fit the windscreen back on if I want it later in the season.

On the main topic I would love to redo my seat but the pan is a mess especially on the edges, no metal tabs left at all... Could use rivets I suppose.

I'll keep an eye on this thread, seat only bugs me after say 200ish miles but have done 500 in a day. That wasnt so pleasant of a trip home.

Hi,

I know Mr. chef1366 and Mrs. Steve use this seat. They seem to like it just fine. You can even customize your installation by installing a gel pad under the seat cover for a little extra comfort. If you are pretty tall with long legs you may not be able to stretch out as easily with this seat. On longer rides I like to move back and forth, use different pedals, etc. Your mileage may vary. :)

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

Did you forget that you already asked that question over on the "General/Maintenance" forum?

I answered you there (and you responded to my answer).

As mentioned in the other thread, click on the "hers" link in my sig to see how it looks on an '82 850L.
