    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hey guys. Sorry its been a while. I have had lots of homework and other things that I needed to do. I did get my liquid gasket maker. (ThreeBond 1194) I got the left side covers on. And I cleaned up the wiring harness under the tank. Things I have left are seal up the valve cover and breather hose. Finish the electrical for the back of the bike and the LED's under the tank. Clean up the rear turn signals. And get a battery and gas cap. Any suggestions for a battery?
 
Well I got the covers all back on. And I did a few little things. I put some gas in it and fired it up. It runs but the carbs are leaking. Its leaking from around where the fuel comes in from the T fitting. Its leaking from the left carb. ;/ Anyone know how I can fix that?
 
Its that entire rubber part the seals with the carb body. I will pull them off now and see what I can do.
 
FC's tutorial has some really good pictures in it to help show where it's supposed to sit. Or hopefully Pete will show up a bit later to offer up better advice for you.
 
I just checked the carbs for leaks. No leaks. Thanks! I will put them back on tomorrow and take it from there. :)
 
If you're talking about part 69 on the fiche which is the T piece that feeds fuel to both carbs, I had the same issue and ordered a new one. $24.22 from Boulevard although I had to wait a couple of weeks as it was back ordered in Japan and at the time it was just after the Tsunami etc. Since then I've seen similar items in auto stores so you could possibly get a suitable one from there instead if it fits ok.

Mine had no O rings on it, the T piece itself seals straight into the holes in the carbs.

Thanks! I got it fixed. I found some O rings and put them in. It worked great. :) Now on to the oil light on. And a bit of oil leaking from the valve cover.

Have you seen the state of my valve cover with the Athena gasket? Not happy! Get a genuine valve cover gasket and you'll be right. $17.65 from Boulevard for the 15 bolt pattern or $11.99 for the 12 bolt pattern... cheap as chips!

I put a light coating of grease on the top side of mine as apparently that helps them release nicely for the next valve clearance check without tearing.
 
Sounds good. And do you know anything about the Oil light staying on? I added around 3 quarts of oil and the oil light is still on. I checked it too and it looks full. any ideas?

The oil light is for oil pressure rather than quantity, so that says to me either your oil pressure is not building up enough or the switch is faulty. It's obviously grounding ok otherwise the light wouldn't go on at all.

If you pull the plug leads and give her a few cranks the oil pressure light should go out, don't even need to have her running to test that.

There is a bolt below the ignition cover where you can hook an oil pressure gauge into to see if the pressure is ok which will tell you if it's your switch or your oil pump.

I haven't had the need to check mine and don't have a gauge so I can't tell you how it works, but the manual does say that's how to test it...
 
Actually, make sure the lead on the oil pressure switch under the ignition cover is not ground against the case.

If something like that were to happen, the light would be on all the time regardless of what the pressure is or if the switch is working.
 
Nice! So now it turns on when you turn the ignition on and then flickers off after she's running and the pressure builds up?
