DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi everyone, I am quite new to this forum. I have a 1981 gs750t that i bought without a title. My question is would my motor, swingarm, forks, ect from the 750 all fit onto a 1981 gs650l frame. I ask because if it does i have found one very close to where i live that has a title for only $100 and was going to buy it so i can actually enjoy my gs.

Thanks,
Tyler

Won't fit. 650L is shaft drive.

ITS Title may be able to help you out.

What other frames would fit?

You need to first determine what bike you have. There's no such thing as a 1981 GS750T. The "T" was available in 1982-1983 only... if its a 1981 it has to be and "E" or an "L". There were slight modifications to the engine in 1982. Perhaps someone else can speak to the mounting points and potential for swapping.

The 2nd generation 750 engine has very similar motor mounts to those on the chain drive 1100; most mounts line up except for the ones under the engine. I've also seen people stuff a chain drive 1100 engine into a chain drive 1000 chassis, so I suspect your 750 engine would likewise bolt into that chassis as well (other than, again, the motor mounts directly under the engine).

Sounds like a lot of work considering the 2nd generation 750 was arguably the worst of all GS engines when it comes to durability. Unless your engine is known to be pristine, it might not be worth all the hassle. And again, a simple solution is to get the title though ITS Title company.

must be a 82 .... has been a bit since ive looked at it... But as far as being 'pristine' I'm not sure.... I have 150psi compression across the board, other than that i don't know much about the bike. It has 28000 miles, seems to run strong. I drove it the day i bought it and got a ticket for fictitious tags and driving without a license and that was over a year ago haven't had it out since. I do start it occasionally just so the carbs don't get varnished. As far as its i can't seem to find a price. If it were 150-200 i'd be willing to go that route, anything more isn't really worth it to me.

Dang..... Wish it was closer im in dayton ohio.... Can anyone guess how much shipping would be?
$75 should cover it if using a shipping company like usf holland or US freight, I think it has to be put on a pallet though.
