    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

1981 GS850GLT BS32 Carb question

I recently bought a GS850 that was mostly put together with a tough box full of parts. It is missing fuel tank, which I just bought one and should have on Monday. It had a 20ox bottle with fuel line going to center tee between carbs 2-3, I was at the point of testing engine out, put fuel in and it pours out where the tees between 1-2 and 3-4 mount to carbs. Assuming need new orings. My problem is parts diagram I have shows me a straight connector between carbs 3-4 not a tee. Which is correct? Also what do all the hoses go to on the carb. I am assuming the tee between carbs2-3 is main fuel line, but has 2 other lines of same size between other carbs, and has a smaller hose on the back side of carb 2. Any help is appriciated. Here is a pic with center line detached with other 3 still on.

the t's between 1&2 and 3&4 are float bowl vent lines. the center t between 2 & 3 is the fuel feed inlet. the nipple/small line on the engine side of carb #2 is the petcock/fuel valve vacuum diaphragm line. if you have fuel dumping out of those 2 float vent lines, my guess is your floats are getting stuck shut, diverting all fuel to the vents. are the float bowl gaskets Suzuki oem or are they aftermarket? aftermarket gaskets can cause the floats to stick, and just require a small amount of trimming around the floats to free them up.
 
Awesome, thank you for the info guys. I took the bowl off and the previous owner obviously tried to rebuild. The gaskets are handmade. On the bowl I removed, the gasket was actually pinching the float and cut really bad. I need to clean/rebuild the carbs. You can grab the 2 vent tees and wobble them where they meet up to the carbs. Seen a link to bikecliff where sells oring kits, going to check those out. Was told engine was rebuilt before it sat the last 5-6 years, and was told had 110hp, not to sure on that, after seeing the 'work' done to carbs. I'm wanting to double check everything with engine to make sure right tolerances. Not a bad buy for $50 though.
 
POs will sing any kind of song to sell you a turd wrapped in gold. But i agree, $50 is an awesome price. I wish i could find these low dollar deals people keep finding. For float bowl gaskets, i go with ebay user janquish. He uses a felt based material, and i haven't had an issue yet with both sets i bought for my gs and kz. He also sells other engine gaskets. I think he does more of the 750-1100 gaskets than the smaller 650 and down bike gaskets. I love the stuff he makes
 
If that engine has 110 hp, it is "built to the hilt". :-\\\

Even the 1000 and 1100 engines didn't crank out that much power.

A stock 850 is rated at 78 hp.

Thanks. Just updated some info. Would love to see in person what this is supposed to look like, mine will get there soon. In process of updating house, moving, and this bike. See it being road ready in a month, depending on what parts I need to get shipped. This site has been an awesome source of info.
