DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

1982 1100e tach light

Calmer now

Calmer now

Much calmer now, things will work out. A little later I'll reassemble everything, and see how it works.

One tach light out of two is better than none.

And I'm getting too old to be riding at night anyway...I just can't help myself!

Thanks

Thanks

Here's my current love. Her name's Suzi.

You may think she's upside down, but that's the way I ride her. I'm going to put mirrors on the ceiling of her room (the garage).

I just bought her edible air filters, but don't tell her. I'm planning a special night, just me and her, the way it used to be.

PS Those 'speedos' you guys mentioned, are they the entire '82 (or '83) instrument panel, or just speedometers? If entire panel, I'll buy them both.

While we're talking, does anybody know what this piece of plastic with cooling fins on it is called, or what function it serves? It seems to hide front brake/anti-dive line junction.

Looking good !

Looking better ;)

Wheelies

Wheelies

This photo deal looks to be like wheelies for me. I can't pop them when I want to, only when I wasn't trying. (None so far on Suzi. Probably better that way.)

Sold!

I already see some of those 'molded rubber bulb holders' I'm after in your photo. Tell me the amount, and where to send the check, and I'll sit by the mailbox waiting for the package.

The rubber bulb holders seem to be a set of 5. Unless you wanted to cut individual holders out of the set.

Fine. Tell me who to make the check out to, the amount and where to send it.

That is merely a cover, serves no useful function other than to hide the junction block, as you have noted.

Let me find mine today and post up a pic for you...:)

I looked at those rubber connectors a little closer. It is a 5 light rubber housing. You should probably not cut it for an individual bulb. Thing that sux is that the wires musta been inserted into the housings from the back side first and then the terminal got crimped on and pushed/pulled back into the housings. You would have to do it that way to change it as there is no way to pull the terminals out the back side. Ive also tried and failed to UN-crimp those terminals. You would have to cut and then solder the terminals back on after the wires were inserted into the rubber housings. Be advised - there is not alot of extra wire to play with.

Its doable if you're comfortable striping, tinning and soldering small wires. I would want to have a small solder station, electrical vice, cutter, stripper, and a low wattage soldering iron. Its all at Radio Shack.

EDIT :o

Ooops ! Senior moment. :o

I re-read your first request. All you need is the single housing tach light. Sorry.

OK - This one feels hard too. Dont want to ruin it trying to get it out

Suggestions ? You could cut down one of the 5 light housings, into a single, for the tach or speedo. That rubber still feels nice and flexible.

The terminal change info (in the long winded post above) still applies.
