A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Trying to re-assemble gauge/instrument cluster...have 3 bulbs left over with wires....wire colors/wiring diagram from Clymer tell me that one is for oil pressure, the other for "kickstand", and another one I can't remember now that I am at work......Can't see anywhere on cluster that these bulbs plug into!!! Where in the heck do these plug into??? Where is the oil pressure indicator on these bikes??? Baffled at this point.

I think these would be similar to my bike (GS850). The oil-pressure light is in the tach housing and the kick-stand light is in the speedo housing.

There's only one hole in either the speedo and tach, and that's for the background lighting.....NOWHERE do I see where these bulbs plug into.....

Maybe someone changed your cluster??? The parts pages shows your
bike as having 1 bulb in the speedo and 3 in the tach. Maybe if you
post a pic of the cluster we could identify it.

You are absolutely right, per alpha-sports, there are 2 additional sockets in the tach, but on mine, which appear to be all original, definitely does not have those sockets in the tach.....Everything looks identical to the diagram with the exception of the tach indicator.....those lights in the lower portion are simply not there......The data plate on the bike is stamped 1982, and states it is a GS1100GL (Z), So....still baffled....

Thanks for the excellant picture Alan, this is exactly what I needed, however, my gauges are not configured like this. There are no little "windows" like yours for the indications......Don't know what the heck is going on.....thinking about just doing without these indications as opposed to paying premium prices for new gauges.......Thanks again....

Like I said before...some PO may have replaced the tach with what
ever was available at the time....try e-bay and see what you can find,
should'nt be much $$.

This same tach can be found on these model bikes:

Are you saying all the listed bikes here have the indicators in the gauges?

That list is for the tach only and should be the same for the
bikes listed. 8) They are all the same part # and should be just
like the one pictured above.
