DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have just bought a 82 GS1100GK, and I want to pull the frame mounted fairing, replace it with a headlight bucket/turn signal etc, and use a handle bar mounted windshield , such as a national cycle 2
The forks on this bike are 41 MM, will the headlight bucket "ears" off a standard 1100g fit these forks, I can not find a fork spec diameter anywhere for a standard 1100g
it only has 53,000k and is good shape except for the charging system , which has a faulty voltage regulator

thanks Robert

37m

and the G forks are spaced closer together than on a GK.

I recall folks having difficulty finding mounting ears and headlight bucket to fit a GK after removing the fairing.
Stuff from a G will not fit due to the different size fork tubed and spacing, they say.
I have not tried that myself.
Did not know about this until I tried to swap a G fender onto the GK .....

Welcome to GSR.

ANy pics?

Where, in general, are you located ?

The stock G forks are 38mm, I got a set of 41 mm ears from Emgo for $35 us , a set of turn signals as well as ahead light assembly from a Yamaha , it is bigger than the stock GS head light
I have replaced the fork springs with progressive and 10w oil it really rails through the corners now with out the 44lb fairing and brackets
I have owned numerous GS over the years, my 1979 gs 850 new at $2900 is still my favourite
I paid $3000 cdn for it with 53000k and the previous owner spent a lot on it
Still a bit buzzy...carb sync and valves next DSCF8925.jpg

Still searching for a "G" seat from a 82-84 1100G

Nice job on the headlight.

The entire bike is great. Look at those pipes.

And when you do find one, keep in mind that the GK seat is much much harder to find. Especially one as nice looking as yours.

I really like the looks of this, and it's making me think about my GK and what I might do when the weather warms up. For now though, I'm really enjoying the protection from the cold wind.
