    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

"WE'VE GOT A FIRST TIMER ON OUR HANDS"

Just got my hands on a 1982 Suzuki GS450.

This is my first build. Looking to go Cafe Style with it and greatly appreciate any suggestions, tips or feedback.

My first task is to get away from the cruiser stance in favor of a cafe stance. Does anybody know if can just swap out the 16" wheel directly with an 18" wheel of an earlier model? Is the axle bearing the same?

Attaching pics of a little progress. With a little TLC to the carbs it fired up and I was able to take it for a spin.

Raised the tank a bit in attempts to get away from the cruiser stance.

Many questions and you just joined....

Firstly, go to User CP, fill in your location, then in your sig block add the type of bike you have, so we don't need to ask over and over again with each post you make...

Take a stroll over to here - http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/forumdisplay.php?f=101

and introduce your self, maybe even add a few pictures of your current build...

and until your mega welcome package arrive in your introduction post, have a peek over here

Just took it in to a guy in Dexter, MI to get the tail section made. He came very highly recommended from a buddy of mine.

Here is the "before" photo :-k

I will update with some progress pictures as I get them.

Hi Mr. LightSoyaki,

I can't help you much with your customizations, but I can share a little about general maintenance. It's all here in your "mega-welcome". :)

If you are here you probably have a 30 year old motorcycle that needs about 20 years worth of maintenance. You'll find all kinds of helpful tips, procedures, manuals, diagrams, "how-to" guides, etc, in the links below. Let's get started.

Let me dump a TON of information on you and share some GS lovin'. :D

I just stopped by to welcome you to the forum in my own, special way.
