DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hi Guys,

I'm new to this forum and have just recently acquired this suzuki bike as a long time enthusiast of the suzuki family I felt it was right to buy a suzuki bike to learn on. About a month ago I bought the 1982 gs850g

I've been having problems with the charging system and have ruled it out to the voltage regulator being shot by following the testing methods provided in the haynes manual I bought. I'm just looking for a good place to buy a voltage regulator at a good price.

The other problem I've been having is my left turn signal does not flash at the time it will sometimes flash at higher speeds of over 30 km/h but will not when stopped it will just turn on an stay on. How would I check this problem too the right side works fine all the time.

I'm new to the road and to the bike world so any help is greatly appreciated I'm looking forward to giving this bike the loving care the last owner did not.

Welcome! A guy named Basscliff will soon fall on you with lots of info. Charging problems very common on suzukis; bad connections are always suspect. Erratic turn signal flashing also can be bad connections or wrong bulbs installed or low system voltage. Follow the link to Basscliff's site and do some reading especially about charging system testing. Avoid buying anything till you're sure. Quality used R/R 's (voltage regulator) can be had cheap- there's a list of compatible ones.

I'm thinking it would be better to buy a new one if i'm planning on keeping the bike no ?

The choice is yours, but if you do a little reading, you'll see that lots of members have had good luck with used Shindengen R/R's which first saw widespread use on Hondas in late 70's. Some of the original suzuki R/R's weren't up to the job, so the Honda style has proven to be more durable. In this same forum, another new member with a 83 gs1100 is checking out his charging system, so follow along with him as he gets replies. In any event, it's vital to clean all connections.
