A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Is there a place where I can find paint codes for finding a color for my chipped tank? I want to do a touch up on the black/maroon color scheme and am looking for an exact match as possible. It's the maroon I'm mostly interested in.
Thanks.

Are you sure it's a 82 G and not a GL? that tu-tone combination sounds more like what would be on a GL model. or could it be an 83 G model?

82 GL... 019 + 12S

I ordered touch-up paint from these folks, it's been a long time since I did it, but I think all I did was supply them with the paint code, make, year, and model. And for my '82 GS1100E, there's 3 coats of paint for the candy fancy maroon model, a silver base, candy fancy maroon middle, and clear top coat, this is called a "tri-coat", paint scheme, and therefore more dough. This is a very busy web-site, lot of interesting stuff to get lost in, painting tips, etc. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the paint code info.

Thanks for the paint code info.

It is an 83. I've been working with 82 bikes lately and the number is stuck in my head. Thanks for all the info. I'll get back with info now that I have someplace to start.

Just a quick update on my progress with the 1983 GS850G touch up color quest. Contacted RS Bike Paint Ltd. ( thank you hampshirehog ) Phil Allen there informs me that 05N ( thanks Nessism for the parts fiche info ) is indeed the code for Deep Burgundy Metallic but is also know as Chinese Maroon Metallic. Doesn't know why. They don't have it because they've never had a sample to sample to create the color. If they get the color from a chip or side cover I send to them, they will create the color. Not ready for that yet. I will get back to him.
Meanwhile, I'll call Cycle Color ( thanks sedelen ) to see what they have to offer. Illinois is a little closer. To be continued........
