DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Does anyone know if used exhaust for a 1984 GS1100 (as it is advertised)the same as a GS1100 GK which is the bike I need the exhaust for? Also any idea on UPS shipping cost from Minneapolis to Ontario. Would the shipping cost outweigh the value of the cheap used price.

Ron

Assuming you're talking about the GS1100G shaftie. The answer is no, I'm afraid. The exhaust system for the plain 1100 shaftie and the 1100GK are different, mostly to allow for the saddlebags on the GK.

Sorry to say that exhaust systems for the GK are very specific. Don Pepe (dpep) has a GK with a ceramic exhaust, so you may wish to contact him through this forum, or pm him. He's run into ground clearance problems, if I remember correctly.

I have an 84 GS1100GK also, with stock exhaust. I hope I never have to replace it, but it seems inevitable that some day I'll have to.

Best wishes to you in finding a GK exhaust. A friend of mine in my area also has a GK, and he had to make a MAC brand unit fit.

thanks for the answer, you saved me from bidding on e-bay. My exhaust is still quite sound but due to improper storage outside by previous owner
it is quite pitted and rusty looking on the mufflers. I may grind them with wire brush and put on a coat of high heat flat black paint to get a bit more life out of them

thanks again
Ron

If the muffler is still structurally sound, then go ahead and try to remove as much of the surface rust as you can. Same thing happened to me when I bought the GK four and a half years ago. The fairing/lowers and the saddlebags hide part of the mufflers from view anyway.
