A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hello,
First things first, this is an amazing site. I have just purchased an 84 GS750ES in fair condition and would like to find a repair manual for it before I start working on it. The problem is, this particular beast does not seem to exist. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Well Jason, I ran into that same problem, only I was told I had an '85 GS750E. What I learned was that '83 was the last year they made the 750, in '84 they dropped it down to a 700. Don't go on just my word, I may be wrong, but I think you might have an '83 on your hands.
Matt

84 didn't come to the states, but 83, and 84 were 750's. 85 they went to 700. There are very few differences between the bikes, the 50cc difference is in the stroke of the engine, the stock jets are a little different, etc. You can get a manual here:
http://www.repairmanual.com/motorcycles/1983/62/6/5659 or keep an eye on ebay. Also, the manual for all 3 years is the same, except that the 700 has it's own section for the changes.

lhanscom : didn't they make the 750ES right up to 1987 ? Anyway, thanks a lot for that link - I ordered a manual right away :)

The USA-market bikes were affected by the "Harley-Davidson" protection tariff on bikes over 700cc for a few years after 1983. That is the reason for the capacity decrease by 50cc, so Luke is correct. Canadian-market, and other market bikes, were not so altered. My recollection is that the first of the GSXR-series bikes appeared in 1986, so the GS(X)750/700 was discontinued.

Thanks to everyone who replied, at least now I know the bike exists.
I do have another question, if anyone out there has done this before: I pulled the carbs out to rebuild/clean them and there will no longer be a factory airbox (don't ask) the plan is to use the individual pod/cone air filters. Has anyone done this?, if so what size jets seemed to work?

Many of us have done this, but my suggestion is that you purchase a jet kit. It will save you a lot of grief. BTW someone recently posted a site that had a great sell on kits. Try searching on jet kits for more information.

The org CV-carbs do not run well without the airbox since thay loose vacuum-buildup wich is essentiall to lift the throttles. A Jetkit could solve it but You dont gain much power. I ran my last bike, a -83 750, with a KN in the airbox, DynoJet st.1 and 4-1. You DO NOT want your engine to run lean in mixture. It is an aircooled engine and the risk of cracks in the head due to high combustiontemperature is a ruining find to do.

Weee - my manual arrived today - now I just gotta pick up a binder from work. Whenever I need to do any servicing I'll just photochopy the pages while at work, and then hop to it as soon as I'm home. If only somebody could sell me some of their spare time.
