A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Going to change over to SS brake lines .Are all 80-83 GS 1100e lines the same length ? And should I go for two or three lines ? I saw that Galfer makes a dual line set any advantage on either :?: thanks

I cant remember if all those 1100's have the same front end (leading axel or bottom axel) which would need different lengths. BUT I just went with the galpher 2 line set up on a GS 1000E I am building and I like it, they are very good lines, I went from stock rubber lines with a freshly overhauled master cylinder that had the brake handle go all the way to the grip before tightening up to about 1/3rd down and very solid. The other thing about galphers is all the colors you can get for no extra charge.
The 2 line setup permormance wise is probly a touch better (less places for air to hide) and it looks pretty good(2 line setup is 2 lines one a little shorter than the other, both bolt up to the master cylinder and then go to their respective brake calipers. it simplifies the front end a little.)

The two line setup is easier to bleed and looks better (IMO). Fewer connections to leak, as well.

Just a note, I used lines for an 01 Bandit 1200 on my 82 GS1100E and they work fine. I couldn't get GS lines without a long wait (from the local dealer), but they had the Bandit lines in 2 days and the price was about 2/3 of the GS lines... Just an alternate choice.

now what I need to know is what does (leading and bottom axle) mean ? would my 81 GS1100e be the same as 82 GS1100 ?
It sure sounds like dual lines are better . thanks

Leading axle means the axle mounts on the front of the lower tubes and bottom mount means it runs directly across the bottom of the front tubes.
