A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hey all, I am just about to put these carbs back together and think I have everything sourced that I need to do so. I am getting orings from cycleorings, bowl gaskets from z1enterprises (unless you have a better place), and the morgan carbtune.

I have been looking at the carb schematics I found on BikeCliff's site and one on BikeBandit but am unclear about 2 other parts I need.

The screw that holds the needle valve body in place. I destroyed the head and had to cut a slot in it to remove it. I would like to replace it but I am just not sure I am seeing the right one in the diagrams. Does anyone know where I can get one or what type/size/thread it is to replace it?

Also, looking at cycleorings site, when I pulled these things apart either I just didnt catch the washers/orings in the mixture valve, they were so deteriorated that they fell apart when i cleaned them, or they just werent there. Is that even possible that it could run with those in that condition? Or is there possibly something else I am missing?

Thanks!

The pilot screw washer and O-ring typically get stuck down inside the hole in the carb body. Make a small hook tool as detailed in the carb rebuild tutorial linked in my signature and you should be able to fish them out. Use an eye loupe or similar and make sure there is nothing stuck down inside the hole. If the washers are truly lost, you need some new ones.

The screw holding the float valve is listed on the OEM parts fishe. The part number suggests it's a M4 screw.

An alternative method for clearing out the mixture screw hole that I use all the time is a long drywall screw.

Just stick it in, push GENTLY, give it about 1/8 turn to the right, pull it out.

Depending on how stuck together the items are, you may get the spring the first time, the washer the second time and finally get the o-ring on the third time.
