A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

33mm carbs

28s came with either 95 or 102.5 main jets. I have 102.5s in my T plate S and 95s in my V plate S (standard airbox and 4-1 on each). Both run spot on.

The choke rod can be swapped. I've done it before and verified.

Black crap in the float bowls is worrisome. I'd try paint stripper and see if you can get it out.

its defo paint and has obviously been run at some point with petrol in it i presume as i only have to tickle it with my finger nail and it falls off. i will scrub them, get some paint stripper in there then ultrasonic clean them. they should be good as new afterwards

Glad to hear they are stock 28s, at least they will flow a little more air. The seller obviously has problems reading calipers? (I noticed there was no picture of the inlet bore, so maybe it was intentional). There was a company named Maxi-bore that did the 30mm conversion, and the front bore indeed got very thin. I've even seen one of those sets that must not have been bored straight: there was a hole in the carb body next to the slide! My friend had a set that he loved, but he had to turn the bottom fuel screw nearly all the way in for it to run right.

For the side lever choke, you will probably need to drill and tap a hole.

the guy did say he measured them with a tape measure!!!!!
the paint is all coming off real easy, just have to make sure all the holes are clear.
i still cant get my head round why anyone would spray the inside of the float bowls?

well i have rebuilt at least six sets of VM's and 2 sets of bandit CV's all have worked out fine, ran no problem all through the rev range and all have said how much better the bike runs.
lots of people on here use U/S cleaners as well on their carbs and they dont get any problems

I had that symptom & chase it around the carbs... it was actually a problem with the ignitor. Just a thought....

That was on my 80 1000G

Be interesting to see what the 28's do for you. :)
