A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi all.
Ok, so.i think the carberation is roughly set up.for my GS850 with Harris 4-1 and pods...
But....
Number 4 cylinder keeps dying.and when i take the plug out, it doesn't spark when resting on the engine...
When I stick another one in, it fires up on all 4 again...
Then after some 10 miles or so, it goes back onto 3 cylinders...
Then 4 again with another (not even new) plug..
And so it goes....
What could be causing this?
Thanx all.
Xxxx

What colour is the plug? It's probably running rich and fouling. Have you still got those 'restrictor bands' on your pods?

Hi HH.
yes, ive still got my Patented Pod Socks on...
The plugs seem to be a healthy dark grey colour...
so you think its running too rich... Ok. Ill add that to the mix...

Thank you babes.
Why arent you out on a nice afternoon like this?
Summers here at last but it wont stay.forever.

Got to fix a couple of bikes for other people before we go on holiday .....tomorrow! Camping with the missus and the kids 50 yards from a private beach. Jammy ain't we, picking the only week this summer with sun. 90+ degrees on Tuesday - we'll be in the sea, few lagers in a bucket, BBQ sizzling, beach cricket and I'm not too old to make sandcastles.

ok, quick update..
ive checked a few things....
the pod socks were covering the front half ov each pod and the needle height was set so the circlip was on the one down from the middle notch (4th groove down).
so yeah, the air is being restricted by approx 50% and the fuel is being richened at 1/4 to 3/4 throttle......
i changed the main jets the other day to 130's as i previously had 142.5's in there (because they were laying around in the workshop (back livingroom)
so once again your right, oh wise one from the West (admittidly not very far west but west none the less).
Right, so i spose i could either lower the needles or roll back the old Pod socks to only 10% or 20% coverage and see if that helps...

thank you.
Have a great wee holiday. hope the weather holds for you...

give my regards to Mrs HampshireHog.
