DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hello, I have A 1981 GS550T 9.000miles, StageIII.K&Ncones.carbs rebuilt&cleaned. I started having a problem above 5grand, acts like i hit rev limiter .resynched carbs no better then i did coil relay mod. new wires&boots.needle 4th from top.155mains middle 2 . 150m outer 2 cyl. plugs look slight lean. wires and boots improved throttle. as did relay mod. but still breaks up any gear. W-O-T pulls untill exactly 5grand. Did relay mod , had 9.8v both coils. runs great other wise. bowls are full fuel. new petcock. this did not do it last year when i did dynojet/pods. or didit happen when i first took out, this spring. I AM NUTS,tank like new inside, plenty of power to batt,.also 4in 1 MAC pipe steel baffle. put onlast year also. thanks for your time. any ideas welcome! SANView attachment 4628

HI thats the only thing i can think of.since i did coil mod today. now to find one to try it. before buy it. Thanks SAN

I had same thing on my 801000G. That's prob the reference Chef is making as he rode it & did some diagnosis on it too.....

I switched out the ignitor for a Dyna S. I also had a coil going bad. I tested the ignitor using the manual tests & it failed.....

Dyna S is $120 from Z1. You have the mechanical advance like me I believe so it's pretty much a doddle to fit.

Dan :)

Great looking T.:)

Dyna S for ND ignition is the one to get.

Involved putting a 1.5V battery across a couple of the contacts from memory.... Should be in the Clymer manual, that's where I got it from.
